VRC is first and foremost a community driven platform. When we allow it to be seen as an acceptable medium for automated "content generation" we inevitably lose the appeal that's kept it around long after the lockdown VR boom died down.

Instead we will juat do machine translation from NPC intentions and world events, it will get a little samey, but maybe that will give its own charms. What im excited for is stuff like generated propaganda, or ancient ruins needing translation (reward being treasure or tech).

I was going to use the language engine im working on (it generates alien conlangs on the fly which you can either hand translate or use an ingame translator minigame) with a tiny, local LLM conversation engine, i just couldnt get it to generate quality output or keep it from going off script.

this will allow for machine translation into grammar, and from there to active phonology. So you could get something like x sa-ra y. Sa, DEAD, -ra event/BECOME/past tense. but it could very easily be generated using whatever phonology, provided it was matched with the correct machine translation

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted as sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.

and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.

there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.

i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

I treated myself to some fast food; i dont get it very often. They accidentally gave me someone else's order and i didnt find out until i was miles away and back at work. Ironically it probably cost more then what i paid for. It wasn't bad. Still thinking of the other guy who got my order.

I was thinking something similar yeah, dwarf fortress has incredibly granular controls, but no specific difficulty system. Invaders being able to dig through your fort for instance is terrifying, but you can turn it off if the experience you want is a little less stressful
