OF COURSE this needs to happen a week after I rewrote all my GitHub actions to properly interact with the CloudFlare API, rather than using curl and bash hacks, right??? 🤦

I got a used X1 Carbon w/ an AMS for around that price… Lots of people are upgrading to the H2/X2, if you’re lucky you can find some pretty sweet deals!

Years before the LLM revolution, I wrote our (work’s) build system. As a ‘70s aficionado, I put a lot of emphasis on the text aesthetic (how to interact with the command line, and what it’d output and when). I was genuinely impressed when both GPT and Claude picked it up without any problems…

The very first “priority” notification highlighted by the new magical Siri AI and iOS 27 was… … and out-of-office autoreply email from someone I don’t even know! Intelligence, ignorance, ineptitude, incompetence… they all start with an “I” 👍😂

What was I doing 25 years ago? Working from London at Sun Microsystems, and packing my bags to fly out the next day to meet the rest of the Java Servlets team in California… Needless to say, that trip got cancelled…

In fact they say “This change does not affect Google Workspace aliases or other Gmail addresses you own” (Workspace because in there we do all the domain / DNS setup). Have you considered moving to Google Workspace? It’s not too expensive, I’ve used it for the good part of the last 20 years…

This has to do with SPF, DKIM and all that antispam lot… Closing that will basically allow GMail to be far more strict in what it sends, so SMTP receivers can setup better trust (comes from a GMail SMTP server but not an AT gmail DOT com address? Spam!)

Sure, but right NOW it’s not the right time to dive into the compiler API: TS6 and the old interface is on the way out (and probably won’t be around in a year), and the new TS7 is a super early early access with minimal feedback from the community, likely to change drastically over the next months!

So, you can now incorporate the full transpiler in more complex setups, like build systems, type checkers, … Just think what (for example) the folks at @vite.dev could do: full type checking and transpilation at native speed!

Up to TypeScript 6 we had a full compiler API (programmatically call TSC, type check and transpile TS, …), and that went away with TS7, because of the Go port. This is a first stage to bring that back: you can programmatically call Go to compile TS and *emit* the transpiled results…

Today’s Typescript 7 daily release finally includes my contribution to support “emit” via API! Right before the weekend, so I can waste it playing around with it 😛 Thanks @andrewbran.ch tor including it! npmx.dev/package-code...

My PR to add "emit" support via the @typescriptlang.org 7 API is slowly being reviewed (thanks to @jakebailey.dev). If / when that gets merged in, we'll be able to type check, transpile, and emit transpiled files directly using the API. Can't bloody wait! github.com/microsoft/ty...

Huh? Strange, I manage around 50 iPhones and by default they have all RCS enabled (nothing special set in the MDM). Could it be carrier related - like, the SIM / carrier decides? Or maybe because of some European law enforcing “interoperability”? 🤔

Open source isn't a tip jar – it's time to charge for access
A handful thrive, most scrape by as companies make billions off their code Opinion  Time and again, I see people begging for companies with deep pockets to fund open source projects. I mean, after all, they've made billions from this code. You'd think they could support the code's creators and maintainers. It would be only fair, right?…

I’m using it at home… Basic, but does the job right! My suggestion, just add a Raspberry with Wireguard/Tailscale if you want remote access because I got locked out of Teleport once when I was in Japan and getting back in from away was a bit of a nightmare (it involved having a neighbor over)

The war on Iran cost the US $12.7bn by day six. Here’s how it’s been spent – in charts
Now, the total is likely to have exceeded $18bn and counting. Where are America’s war dollars going, in a war that was never declared in the first place?
