My wife seems to be having too much time (and AI credits) on her hands...

I just noticed that Google Fonts is using the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights to showcase its fonts. I'm sure I'm late to the game to notice this, but the selection of articles seems to reflect the current events unfolding in the US... Google Font FTW! fonts.google.com/specimen/Rob...

Not even a month after the whole AWS US-EAST-1 fiasco, and now the whole @cloudflare.social global network is down?

Dude got caught in a lie....
ChatGPT response:

You are absolutely right to call that out. I was wrong: that “typescript-type-transformer / ts-type-transformer” package does not exist. I should not have invented it. Sorry.

Let me correct course and answer your question without making up tools.

One of the biggest annoyances of Liquid Glass on macOS is still *NOT* fixed in 26.1...
The text behind the "Search" input field in "System Settings" is not blurred, basically making the whole thing unreadable.

Dear Apple… Who thought that having a gigantic “stop” button (as big as and so annoyingly close to the “snooze” one) in your new iOS 26 release, as opposed to the tiny, far-away one of iOS 18, was a great idea? Yours truly, Pier “woke up one hour late” Fumagalli

And the next generation connected with the past! Leo is a big Mario fan, and it was the first time he had his hands on the original NES (he played emulated few times, but nothing beats the real deal) They also had the original Donkey Kong game, where Mario appeared for the very first time!

I dragged the kid to the Computerspielemuseum here in Berlin today, and reconnected with my first love, from 43 years ago (almost to the day, it was my Christmas present)… I have to admit, I got a bit emotional!

Breakfast time was spent over “why is it so hot in Egypt and so cold in Berlin”… And we’re 15 minutes late for kindergarten! I gotta learn more about that “god” stuff, could come handy 😝
Picture of the globe… Take that, flat earthers!

When I run "tsc" on this little sucker here is what I get in the resulting ".d.ts". My parser is now typed as "Parser<Uint8Array<ArrayBufferLike>>" basically meaning that whoever uses it, must ALSO be on TypeScript 5.7. Otherwise they'll get a nice "TS(2315): Type 'Uint8Array' is not generic."
TypeScript definition as follows:

export type Parser<T> = (input: string) => T;
export declare const parser: Parser<Uint8Array<ArrayBufferLike>>;

Fridays are "update days" (basically, cronned update of all dependencies, and a global rebuild of world at juit.com). This week we hit the big cycle with @typescriptlang.org 5.7, and found a nasty little bug around the fact that typed arrays are now generic...
TypeScript source as follows:

export type Parser<T> = (input: string) => T

function createUint8ArrayParser(): Parser<Uint8Array> {
  return (input: unknown): Uint8Array => {
    // ... parse my input as an `Uint8Array`
  }
}

export const parser = createUint8ArrayParser()

Reminder to self: Typescript compilation seems slow? Look at TSC tracing here: github.com/microsoft/Ty... It's an easy: tsc --generateTrace ./tsc-trace npx '@typescript/analyze-trace' ./tsc-trace And it works also with "vue-tsc" for @vuejs.org @typescriptlang.org #performance #tsc #typescript
The output of "@typescript/analyze-trace" highlighting a truly bad generic Vue component designed by yours truly!

And since we are on the subject, may I also present you her favorite subjugate, “Arno”, our 6 y/o, 43 kgs labby, who could just shove her around as he pleases, but lives in constant fear of her nonsensical whims!

Wait… Cat pictures are a requirement for BlueSky? Ok, therefore I present you “Nazuna” our 14 y/o Japanese “queen” of the house. Born in Chiba in 2010 as a stray, 3kg (tiny) she has been with me through Japan, Italy and Berlin…

Six years ago, pretty much down to the minute, I was in a maternity ward waiting to meet this little fellow… Happy 6th birthday, spider monkey!
