LLMs are tools, not people. This means they are not authors either. They are not the author of your git commits, you are. It’s good to disclose if you used an LLM to make edits, but the commit author field is not the right place. That’s just a weird place to put an ad for the tool.

So... back in 2017 we added error codes to Node.js. Today there are something like a couple hundred codes or so. They are all documented to some degree on the website but inconsistently. The question: should Node.js have a built in `node --explain ERR_CODE` that prints the detail similar to rustc?

Ok, so question ... if you could run a warmed node.js as a daemon process listening on either a local domain or TCP socket and dispatch scripts to it if it mean cutting the cold start time in half for scripts would that be useful? I've been playing with this for a while now...

I think the part that people fail to understand is that in the open source ecosystem, *code* is the social capital. It's the currency traditionally used in exchange for connection, reputation and influence. It's been a currency based on proof of effort. AI agents fully devalue that currency.

My preferred debugging technique has always been printf/console.log ... I've been a big fan of the logpoint feature that chrome devtools added that uses conditional breakpoints to inject logging without actually having to change the code. I wanted to experiment to see how it could work in Node.js...

100% true. And, honestly, one of the secrets to @nodejs.org's longevity is that we exactly built resilience to this into the governance. No single company can represent more than 1/3 of the TSC for instance. It's never perfect but with effort companies can participate rather than dominate.
