A vertical twilight photograph - by European elopement and wedding photographer Sturmsucht - of The Shard, London's tapering glass skyscraper, filling the centre of the frame against a clear, saturated dark-blue evening sky. The tower narrows to a shard-like point made of angled glass facets, and the last of the daylight or the building's lighting makes the upper section glow warm gold. Below that, scattered office lights — warm yellow and a few red aircraft warning lights — dot the mirrored facade, and the glass faintly reflects nearby buildings.

At the bottom of the frame sits a cluster of lower-rise buildings, their windows lit in warm yellow grids: a curved dark-brown office block in the centre foreground, a paler stone building on the left whose lit signage reads "…HOSPITAL" (the end of a word beginning off-frame), and more glass-fronted blocks on the right, one topped with rooftop plant or a small structure.

On the left, two red construction cranes stand silhouetted against the sky beside a mid-rise building with a patterned, perforated facade that catches warm light. The overall mood is calm, blue-hour city stillness, with the glowing tower dominating the composition.

Right of centre, The Shard dominates: a glass pyramid tapering to a bright, pointillist-lit spire, its body speckled with warm yellow and orange office lights and a scatter of red warning lights. Around it cluster lower modern blocks — one with a prominent grid of lit windows, another showing the word "news" on a lit sign — while to its left the pale stone facade of London Bridge Hospital glows warm yellow, its name spelled out in lit letters along the roofline. Behind it, the red lattice of two construction cranes and a dark mid-rise building with a perforated facade stand against the sky, and further left a lower white building row extends off-frame.

Sweeping diagonally in from the upper right and filling the right third of the frame is a large concrete road bridge — its parapet dark, its underside and supporting beams lit vividly, blending from electric blue at the top to hot pink and magenta beneath the arch, with pink reflections trailing down the rippling water. A pink-lit vessel passes beneath it, its own reflection mirrored below. The near stone pier at the water's edge is washed in the same warm pink light.

The Thames fills the bottom quarter of the landscape frame, its surface rippling with long gold reflections from the hospital and office lights on the left and pink ones on the right.

Further bridges' lights and a lit skyline of blocks and towers recede behind the bridge on the left, where the moored HQS Wellington-style pier and riverside buildings sit.

To the right of the bridge, the grey Royal Navy cruiser HMS Belfast is moored mid-river, its masts, turrets and superstructure picked out in white light, with red buoys along the hull. Behind it, modern glass office blocks glow in grids of yellow, and the round, glazed dome of City Hall (the former Greater London Authority building) curves into view, with older brick and stone riverside buildings to the far right.

In the left foreground, a concrete embankment edge with lamps and a white temporary structure juts into the frame. A small passenger boat and two boxy barges float in the near water, and a rust-coloured flat vessel sits in the very bottom centre. The overall effect is calm and luminous: cool blue sky and water against warm amber city lights and the violet accents of the bridge.

A close-up view shows a rusted metal T-hinge mounted across the seam of horizontal, weathered wood planks with heavily cracked and peeling reddish-brown paint. Bare, pale vine tendrils emerge from the narrow gap between the boards and crawl across the worn, splintered timber.
