Very short lived, but I liked it enough when I saw it for it to stick in my memory. No idea if it would hold up now or not.

They still made some choices I disagree with, forcing some connections that were unnecessary and that really drag the film down. The sets and creature designs are good; the music is excellent. But the script has some serious issues. A few more edits though and I think they could have made it work.

I was expecting to hate Return to Silent Hill given what I knew of the story changes, and in reality I didn’t. It may be that being spoiled helped me to not be angered by the changes and gave me a chance to judge it on its own merits.

Good Fortune is the kind of movie that has you thinking for a while that no good ending could be coming, but then it finally takes a turn and leaves you smiling. No big surprise but Keanu is absolutely the highlight of the film.

Jak and I went to see it Friday night. My shoulders hurt walking out because I was clutching myself so hard and often. Just so incredibly tense and freaky.

I mostly found the gimmick aspects clever and enjoyable. The main story of the house itself has also stuck with me since reading.

I am like you, whatever age I currently am, I accept and move on with. It’s 40s now, but I felt the same way in my 30s. I wonder if it’s just certain personality types or something like that.

I was watching it going “come on, come on, where is he?” And they did not disappoint me with the reveal at the end. I hope the movie is as all in as the trailer is.

The Krakoan era Fallen Angels and Hellions did a great job of fleshing out Kwannon’s character and the latter overall did a lot of interesting things with its cast. It’s on the fringes of the stories enough that I think you could follow it without having to read all the Krakoan books to follow it.

Seems like a fairly obvious story choice that Steve’s choice helped fracture the multiverse, so he’s coming back to take responsibility for his choices and make things right, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be Captain America always and forever after that.

Went and saw The Long Walk. I was hoping Mark Hamill would have a bigger part, but the main cast was great and really shine in their roles. I’m too far away from my last read of the novel to nitpick anything, it overall felt very true to the spirit of the book even with the changes they made.

Yeah seems pretty deliberate to start us with something that feels like a kids movie but then slowly show how things aren’t as sweet and wonderful as they might seem.

Saw a cyber truck leaving the neighborhood with a matte black paint job. Couldn’t help but assume it was either to cover up some graffiti or an attempt to shield themselves from it.

So I really thought this week’s Handmaid’s Tale was the finale so when it got to the end I was a little disappointed. Glad I went looking for behind the scenes stuff so I could see it’s not done yet.

It struck a lot of the same notes as the first Guardians did for me, though obviously not in the exact same way. I probably won’t watch it repeatedly, but I’m super glad I saw it when I did.

My main pet peeve is calling something a season when it ends on a cliffhanger with nothing resolved. I’d prefer they call it part 1. But beyond the personal shock I felt about episode 1, I’ve enjoyed it so far.

I’ve been watching Spring Baking Championship and I’m convinced the closed captioning is AI generated. Sometimes the bakers run their words together and it’s picking something that it does sound like they are saying but a human editor would easily be able to tell that wasn’t what they said.

Watched A Complete Unknown with Jak. It was hard for him to not notice the inaccuracies but we both enjoyed Chalamet’s performance. It also made me want to go listen to Highway 61 Revisited again so if it does that for enough people it’s an absolute win.

It is absolutely natural for you to feel that frustration and you’re not a bad person for feeling that way. We can try to help and want the best for people but it is ultimately up to them to make the necessary changes in their lives.

I like that and also the individual presenters complimenting each nominee as well, it really makes it feel more like a proper tribute to craft and mutual appreciation rather than a contest.

Watched all of the Beatles Anthology and the films with my niece. It was great hearing her laugh at the parts that charmed me from the beginning. The end of the Anthology still brings tears to my eyes. I think part of it is how genuinely sad you can tell Ringo is about their end.

Made the decision to take down my old writings from Smashwords, and also couldn’t resist reading the first volume again. It wasn’t as cringe inducing as I expected. The main thought I have is that I really needed to let things breathe more and develop more naturally.
