The term "national interest" has no official definition in Canadian law. In practice, it means whatever the hell Mark Carney wants it to mean. It's the umbrella term under which the interests of capital are dishonestly branded in order to ram them down the throats of countless victims. 1/

Basically, the Nation is defined as Capital, and thus the national interest is whatever is in Capital's interest. Unfortunately this framing is very effective and has ZERO pushback in the mainstream.

Never forget that workers' ability to strike cannot be removed by the mere passing of a labour code. Labour leaders would do well to remember that workers hold the real power in society, when they are organized. If they decide to strike and mobilize, God help the govnt that stands in their way.

This is outrageous. The city providing a service on the one hand, and then harassing you for using that service on the other. There should be something illegal about providing a service that is not fully legal. E.g. Wouldn't a car rental company be liable if they rented a car without seatbelts?

Look. I don't disagree with people saying that the solution to the bike lane law is political: vote Ford out. But can we acknowledge that the places with the bike lanes didn't vote Ford in and that it's not implausible that Ford's actions are partly retaliation for that? And that's kinda messed up?
