The left must not let tech CEOs lead the converstion on AI regulation. Amodei's proposed "slowdown" amounts to self regulation and weakening antitrust to create a private AI duopoly. However, a legislative frontier AI moratorium and public ownership/control would break Silicon Valley.

This photo of a soccer match in Gaza was censored from a sports photography festival in France under Israeli pressure www.humanite.fr/politique/ar... (in French)
Photograph showing the corner of a soccer field from a high angle, players are on the field near the goal and lined up on the sidelines. A few feet behind the edge of the field is a half-destroyed six story building, with other destroyed buildings visible in the background.

Okay so now instead of theoretically backstopping $250 billion NVIDIA would theoretically backstop $120 billion in a deal that is yet to be finalized for a data center that has yet to be built by a company that has never built a data center for a company that can't afford to pay
The revised plan would lower the size of Nvidia’s financial guarantee from $250 billion to less than $120 billion, a change made to address investors’ concerns about the chipmaker’s risk exposure as it wields its balance sheet to bolster demand for its artificial-intelligence chips, some of the people said. A deal could be signed as soon as this weekend. Nvidia shares fell 5% after the Journal first reported the discussions of the $250 billion backstop.

Under the outline now being discussed, Nvidia would provide a financial backstop for the first phase, totaling roughly five gigawatts of power, and then decide later whether or how to finance the remainder. OpenAI is still in discussions to sign a binding lease for 10 gigawatts of the project in the coming days, according to two people familiar with the project.

SB Energy, a subsidiary of Japan’s SoftBank, is developing the 10-gigawatt site, which would be the largest data center project announced to date.

The initial guarantee would cover the data-center lease and debt needed to fund the build-out and lower the project’s borrowing costs by making lenders feel more confident that the funding behind the project is secure, the Journal has reported. Nvidia is discussing a separate deal to finance OpenAI’s purchase of chips, which could total $350 billion across the full project. The power for the project is controlled by the U.S. government and funded separately by Japan under a recent trade deal.

Mari, like her codefendants Benjamin “Champagne Song” and Zachary Evetts, is being held in segregation. She has faced extensive violating strip searches, excessive surveillance during meetings with lawyers, and was forced to breathe in pepper spray chemicals 5 times across (1/3)
Slide has text in caption.Lt. Gross, the cop who was allegedly shot in the Prairieland Case, was sued in 2021 for stripping down an incarcerated man and holding him naked in a refrigerated suicide cell to make him talk without his lawyer present.
This coercive, violent, humiliating behavior is normalized in Johnson County. After returning from sentencing on June 23, Maricela was interviewed by mental health coordinator, LCSW Joy White who started asking intrusive questions about the defendants plans for appeal. . Maricela asked if she could call her lawyer. White responded: “You’re not going to be calling anyone. You’re going to be naked in a padded cell for 4 days”.1. Breaks my heart to think about these things. Supposedly there were so many sea turtles when Columbus sailed that they could constantly hear the shells banging on the ship. We don't even know how much we have lost.In Florida of the 17th century wild pigeons, parrots, and other birds were so numerous that boats left laden completely with their eggs. The forests of Kamchatka were once so full of birds that their sound made it impossible to hear oneself speak
