My friend's older brother (who was also in Buffalo) came the next day to pick us up from the airport, once enough roads had been cleared of snow and fallen trees. I slept for something like 20 hours when I got home. When I woke up I bought an entire pizza for my roommate.

We finally made it to the airport and of course by that point all flights had been "delayed." We spent the night sleeping on the floor at the airport, using our coats as blankets. At some point all flights were fully canceled.

Eventually we managed to get the car out of the snow. My roommate understandably decided he could go no further on this adventure and had to turn back. My friend and I hitchhiked the last few miles to the airport (the one and only time I've done that, shout out to the plow driver who stopped for us)

One of my roommates had agreed to drive me and a friend (who was also going to spx) to the airport, despite the increasingly scary conditions outside. It took us an extremely long time to go just a few miles, only to eventually get completely stuck in the snow ON THE HIGHWAY.

When I finally made it back to my apartment, I checked to see if my flight was canceled or not (this was still pre-smart phone times). Miraculously, it was still listed as on schedule. I even called the airport to confirm.

It was one of the most harrowing walks of my life. The trees all still had leaves on them. Trees can handle the weight of heavy snow, but not when they still have leaves. I am not kidding when I say I had to run/dive out of the way of falling trees and power lines more than once on that walk.

I was in Buffalo as a college student at the time. I was supposed to fly that night to attend SPX in Bethesda, MD. I was walking a mile or so to a copy shop to finish printing out all my mini comics when the storm first hit.

switching over to the 3rd period of sharks vs blues as a little palate cleanser. I've never followed a sharks season closely, but I've had a soft spot for them since they first entered the league in the early 90's. great team colors, one of the best logos in professional sports, often the underdog.

Putting aside the fact that Tage Thompson is an actual nazi: I really wish he was getting less ice time than he does. The dude has a nasty slap shot and has a wild three or four point game once in a while, but the Sabres rely on him WAY too much and he barely ever is able to actually deliver.

Yesterday I was trying to kill time in a record shop while waiting for my car to get inspected and found a copy of "Ice Water" for 4 bucks. I listened to it after a comic reading last night and then again when I woke up today. It's going to be on my turntable a lot in the coming months
