I built a “server”, really it’s just an older computer, to put in my basement to tinker with LLM AI stuff but I built it outside of the case because I was worried it wouldn’t fit. It’s working fine with its guts hanging out so even though I know it will fit now I don’t want to mess with it. 😂

Ram prices are so out of control that people are buying graphics cards that someone in China desoldered then soldered on higher capacity memory chips. This is not an easy process. Definitely voids the warranty. Not that there was any warranty left. 😂

Expectation is one flu shot given per day. Never mind that it’s July and they recommend that people aged 65 and older wait until September/October. I don’t know how many flu seasons I got left in me. I wanted to help people. I didn’t want to be a salesman. Profession has passed me by.

I spend way too much time building and maintaining computers that I should really ask myself “Do you really need a server?” Things snowball until I’ve got spare parts out my ears. Then I finish and all it does is play movies, run my WiFi network, and backup the other computer.

Had the joy of waking up and having to rush to my in laws because my father in law had fallen and after an hour they couldn’t get him up. I don’t know how this is their normal and they never think. “Maybe we need help.” He’s going to die from a fall and she’s going to die trying to get him up.

Can you be against generative AI but still kind of like using it to gather information for you. I hated the idea at first but I can ask “Is there a motherboard that has ddr4 support and bifurcation of the first pcie slot into x8 x8”. It would take me hours and hours to find that information.
