Yeah, I adored the first Control, devoured the main game in about two sittings and have all the DLC done. Was very prepared for it being a very diff game in terms of the melee focus etc but the writing and tone in Resonant feels nothing alike, and I'm having a really hard time with it as a result.

I feel like I'm at odds with the whole universe re how much I really did not enjoy my time with Control Resonant. Too much to really go into, but it just did not hit for me at all. Might just watch a playthrough and hope that my worst fears about how flat-out bad the writing is aren't confirmed.

You absolutely don't have to hand it to Canva, but I'm pretty sure when I downloaded Affinity for my Mac Pro the minimum required OS was MacOS 12 Monterey. Went to check the release notes for the latest update and they now appear to support all the way back to 10.5 Catalina. That's fucking rad.

First hour of Control Resonant was awful tbh. Prestige tutorial funnel followed by a shitty boss that's only difficult due to it chunking absurd amounts of damage with no heal. Combat is weightless and dull. I hope it gets better because if it's this the whole way through then I'm fucking out.

Sincerely, I think the future of CRPGs belongs to the indies. You got games like Banquet for Fools, Space Wreck, Avernum, Skald etc all iterating on the formula in really fun and novel ways. BG3 has sat in my Steam library for years, and every time I try to go back to my brain instantly checks out.
