Public CONTROL is NOT public OWNERSHIP, and here's why We explain this and how Andy Burnham can deliver public ownership in our NEW REPORT Can you take just 2 mins now to send it to your MP? vist.ly/5k384
A Screenshot of a portion of We Own It's new report that says "Why public ownership rather than public control? Would you rather own your home than rent it? If so, you have some idea of the benefits of ownership rather than, say, rent controls. Ownership means you have an asset that increases in value over time, you are using your monthly mortgage payment for your own benefit and you have full control - you can paint the walls any colour you like. This is a household analogy that holds. When countries own public assets and services, they are wealthier, they can benefit from revenue streams from household bills and they have the real control that only ownership can provide."

In August this year, for 1 month, the Government made bus journeys free for children in England. Now, new figures show that the scheme enabled more than 14 million free child journeys. One bus service in the North East had 710% more child passengers than last summer. Our reaction 👇
Photo of Michael Solomon Williams with the quote, "As well as saving families money on millions of journeys, free child bus fares encouraged people to give the bus a try, inspiring a new generation of bus users. It's great to see this efficient, sustainable form of transport being given such a boost. But even with free fares, access to buses is not equal. One in seven people live in places without a decent bus service. The Government needs to do more to reconnect these transport deserts."

Screenshot of a Guardian article titled “Huge El Niño projected to cause more than 450,000 deaths by February.” The article, by environment editor Damian Carrington and dated 23 September 2026, says climate scientists estimate that additional heat from a projected strong El Niño could cause more than 450,000 deaths by February, on top of existing climate-crisis-related deaths. It mentions impacts across Indonesia, India, Nigeria and the US, as well as additional deaths from droughts, wildfires and flooding.
