After Trump used taxpayer money to air one of his literal campaign ads, FCC Chair Brendan Carr shrugged off the scandal, saying the propaganda was just a “normal PSA.” It’s ridiculous to the point of being insulting. It’s as if these guys think Americans are idiots. www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...

FCC’s Carr brushes off concerns about Trump’s taxpayer-paid election ads
To see literal campaign propaganda as “normal PSAs” is obviously preposterous — except to Trump’s FCC chair.

The U.S. has withdrawn its last troops from Iraq, 23 years after a Republican president launched a war of choice based on lies that cost trillions of dollars, killed hundreds of thousands of people, and unleashed regional chaos. History doesn't repeat, but it often rhymes.

There have been so many impeachable offenses, but lying about how you were a hero on a day that 2,753 people died in NYC in the 9/11 disaster—when you were on the other side of town, safely calling local media to brag about how you now had the tallest downtown building—is such a despicable one

Being able to read a review critically and figure out where the critic is coming from is a good skill that we want to cultivate actually, and we should encourage more of it instead of expecting criticism to reflect our own opinions of what's objectively good back to us.

Emily Wilson's Odyssey review is good because being able to say "oh this reviewer thinks this way because their personal history and interests leads them to regard certain things as important that I don't" is how we SHOULD be engaging with criticism and assessing it's relevance.

Joseph S. Blatter: Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President — and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match — the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis, FIFA?

Football must never become a playground for political power.
