I love exploring in #MortalShell2, it's a really cool open world, but what's killing the game for me is the constant dungeon delving in very samey dungeons. I sigh a bit every time, it's now a necessary evil before I get to explore more. And there's a *lot* of them.

Completely agree. Outlaws is full of genius design, is an unbelievably immersive and evocative interpretation of Star Wars, and has some top-tier writing. It’s the pinnacle of the Ubisoft format. They even fixed a bunch of the things that didn’t work for some folk in free patches. Amazing game.

Against my better judgment I picked up #MortalShell2. It is, of course, kicking my ass. So the question I have to ask myself is if I actually care about Achievements, or if I put on the "easy mode" equipment item. I guess it's also the question of what a Soulslike actually is to me.

I adore Tim Curry in general, but to me personally, the one role of his that's been the most impactful is his voice acting for Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. I can still hear some of his voice lines in my head. May he be granted the accomplishment of his true Will.

And thus ends six weeks of vacation. It's been good, but with a soon-four-year-old at home I would hardly call it relaxing. But it's been good, and I've managed to disconnect completely from work. Now it's time to try to get back to regular life. It's not gonna be easy, but I'm sure it'll be fun.

Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2 is a little wonder. Visited Limsa, the main hub of the game. The place was *packed* with players, and the game ran without any issues. Tanked a trial, no problems at all. And it's perfect as handheld, cozied up in the couch. #finalfantasyxiv #ffxiv

On a whim I decided to log in to the classic MMO Rift. Have so many fond memories of that game, including raiding back in the day. Recently there was an initiative for a community revival, and there even seems to be a few devs back on the project. Would love to see it get some more love.

Todd Howard just shared plans for the Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield franchises. These worlds have earned a special place with hundreds of millions of people over many years. I'm looking forward to what's next, including the partnership with Obsidian on a new Fallout game and closer collaboration with ZeniMax Online Studios on The Elder Scrolls. The achievements of these franchises are remarkable: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has crossed 65 million units sold, becoming one of the 10 best-selling games of all time, Fallout 4 has also crossed 35 million units sold, joining the top 25, and Starfield will soon reach over 1 billion hours played.
This statement sucks so bad that it makes my blood boil. Look what the franchises did, all by themselves! Look what they’ve accomplished, of their own volition, thanks to their own intrinsic goodness! So many big numbers, which translate to giant heaps of cash in the bank accounts of execs and shareholders! Never mind the people who spent decades painstakingly crafting the many games, stories, and other creative endeavors that corporate ghouls now so happily flatten into “franchises,” erasing themes, meaning, and human beings in favor of empty iconography.

This is how the people running the show at Xbox—and countless companies besides—view games, not to mention everything else in their robotic, colorless lives. Numbers and lines trending ever upward. Fuel for platitudes and faux-inspirational nonsense directed at the LinkedIn hivemind, of which they all paradoxically believe they’re the main character. Another stepping stone toward the next bigger, better thing. No ultimate destination, no camaraderie, no soul. Just an endless ladder that leads to the void regardless of which way you climb.

The newly released illustrated Gnostic Mass book, which includes a fully illustrated version of Aleister Crowley's Liber XV, arrived today. It's magnificent, printed in only 111 copies. Got no 43. So glad I managed to snag a copy before they all disappeared. #thelema #occult

On the train to Stockholm, listning to The Stand, wishing the trip would last for another five hours rather than the 90 minutes I have left. Being on your own on a train, with books or podcasts, is one of my favorite things in life. It's so soothing. (even if I already miss my kid)

Turned out the best way to fix LG's WebOS on our new TV really was "just get an Apple TV". Jesus, Smart TV operating systems are a blight - pay a lot of money to get ads shoved down your throat right in your living room. Such a great example of modern life being absolute rubbish.
