navigation error & slipped back a bit. Then the guy we were running with hurt his knee and had to retire with about 13 miles to go. I enjoyed the night over the Long Mynd with lots of stars & a low moon over Ragleth (the last hill). It felt like we were going to touch the moon when we summited!

I finished my first Long Mynd Hike at 2am this morning, 43rd out of about 450 starters. We had beautiful blue skies and no wind. A tough course, with a hefty ascent total, some tricky route finding esp in the dark, & a steep hill to climb before the finish. The Hike is an old race with lots of....

Second time I've packed up my racebag, ready for the Long Mynd Hike tomorrow. Last year's race was cancelled the day before due to a storm. We have better weather forecast tomorrow. It's a 50-mile route in a figure of eight centred on Stiperstones, with about 3000m of ascent. Had to enter again!

Final day (6) of our walk & we made it to Wallsend! 86 miles from Bowness. A pleasant riverside walk along the Tyne into Newcastle, stopping for coffee & cake at an Italian café. Carried on past some reminders of coal haulage & many bridges & then left the riverside for the final 5 miles....

Day 5 of Hadrian's Wall trail - a long section which left the remnants of the wall behind, mainly spending time walking close to the Military Road through fields, besides the Vallum (a ditch behind the wall). Spotted a 4th trig point. Staying by the River Tyne before the final leg to Newcastle.

Day 4 of our Hadrian's Wall Path. A shorter, mostly downhill stretch from the Old Repeater Station to Cholloford. We passed a milecastle overgrown by oak trees, long stretches of Wall still there & an old temple & a visit to Chesters. Had time for a swim by the bridge. JimBobs ear healing OK now.

Leg 2 of Hadrian's Wall Path started with some dog drama outside the sandwich shop in Carlisle when JimBob (our dog) was bitten on the ear by another dog. We detoured to the vets before continuing on the walk. A few road sections then a climb up to the amazing sections between Banks & Gilsland.

Been asked to assist another runner on leg 4 (Wasdale to Honister) of their #BobGrahamRound attempt in August. That should be fun, as it is the best leg (most scenic & usually done in daylight!), but I'll have to brush up on my navigation. Good to be able to help another contender.

I'm not sure! My original plan was to go for a summer Spine race as well, based on more daylight, better weather but actually the weather we had on day 1 in winter was amazing. I think you'd expect good weather in June & may get anything - heat like this week would be bad. & blisters more likely ?
