Ultra runner, drummer, programmer. STL Cards and White Sox fan. Music is life. I'll never have it all figured out and that's kinda nice. Cocodona 250 finisher! You will hardly know who I am, or what I mean; but I shall be good health to you nevertheless.

3 mi up. 5x 1 mi at LT pace, 1 mi fast recovery. 3 mi down. What a confidence booster. Despite the increased volume on my legs this week, I felt weirdly assured that I would nail this workout. The first LT interval was cautious. When that didn't kill me, I sent the rest. A 7:05 8th mile! #running

Happy weekend! I went on a recovery run. I cut the hill repeats at the end because I have a big weekend scheduled ahead. Still a little toasty for my tastes. Fall will surely arrive by February. #running

The Track Tuesday crowd showed up for Breakaway Thursday! I'm a social runner this week after all. Felt great, had fun, didn't push. Loved it. #running

1.5 miles warm up 4x (800m / 400m / 200m) 4x 200m 1.5 miles cool down This looks like another big Track Tuesday workout, but 200-400m recovery jogs between intervals really kept me from overcooking. The UoM marching band provided a killer soundtrack while I ran circles around them. #running

As Modest Mouse repeatedly say in that one song, the good times are killing me. Specifically the good times at Track Tuesday are killing my marathon training discipline. I miss the camaraderie already, but I'll see if this week is any better without it. Lighter speed work tomorrow instead. #running

I went for a walk with my partner this morning, watched her volleyball games with friends, and even jumped into a volleyball match when a team was short a player. After that long and active day, I finally had time to sneak in my run after the sun went down. Felt surprisingly fresh. #running

Cut back mileage on Thursday and Friday, threw on the playlist of a music challenge I'm taking part in, and viiiiibed. Felt good to hit the distance and not feel burnt out! #running

Still a bit stressed and underslept, so it's no surprise that this recovery Friday felt necessary. It's a cool, overcast day. So I got that going for me, which is nice. #running

The fun part was the opening miles, in which I ran some outgoing mail to the post office. The prescribed 6 miles of zone 3 afterwards were brutal. Maybe it was waking at 3:30, maybe the 90° heat. Maybe Track Tuesday. I just couldn't find the motivation to hold it. I gotta figure this out. #running

It is not too late to get onto the Team Of Destiny Bandwagon, folks. Once the Sox win a postseason series, they simply forget how to lose them.

@runsingletrack.bsky.social shared a fun quote from #bm100 great Andrew Thompson on today's podcast. He said every runner fell into 2 categories: engineer or "blissed-out wanderer." My race spreadsheets betray which camp I fall in. Forever an engineer, forever seeking blissed-out wandering. #running

To me, music & reading are primarily about connecting to other human beings. Not that I think there is something unique or mystical about consciousness. But without learned experience & feelings behind a creative work, it contains nothing of substance to me. AI is just an algorithm trying to pander.

Track Tuesday! 1200m, 800m, 400m, 800m. Something like 2 minutes rest in between. I guess it's promising that I resolved to take today easier, felt like I did so, and still ran my third fastest adult 800 and 1K. Or maybe I truly have zero restraint. #running

Oh shit the White Sox are literally on a mission from God
Letter to Jerry Reinsdorf from the pope

I was pleased to receive the kind letter that you
sent
following the game that took place at Rate Field on August 11, 2026. I am most grateful for this thoughtful gesture.
As I have noted,
"sport can truly become a school of life,
where all can learn that abundance does not come from victory at any cost, but from sharing, from respecting others and from the joy of walking together" (Letter Life in Abundance, 6 February In this spirit, it is my hope that the White Sox will
continue to foster bonds of friendship and solidarity people, and thus bear hopeful witness to the possibility of living and working together in peace.
With
these sentiments, I willingly invoke the Almighty's
abundant blessings upon you and your loved ones.

Sixth grade. This was my peak of buying Now (That's What I Call Music!) CDs and taping songs off St Louis' pop station, Z107.7. I would never again be this connected to the popular music zeitgeist. Some of these bands stuck with me as I dove deeper into punk, blues, and indie.

The ginkgos say it's fall. It was a beautiful cool morning, and I could barely drag one foot in front of the other. I didn't feel bad, just fatigued. So I scrapped pace, even walked a couple stretches, and enjoyed the breeze. #running

The cool weather continues. Kept it relaxed and listened to a spectacular interview between trail legends Matt Carpenter and Scott Jurek. Matt came across as so focused, humble, and on the level. I wish he'd speak publicly more. He still has so much to offer the sport, even 30 years later. #running

It's a hard rub, being a third generation White Sox fan. And some days I have cursed my grandfather for bestowing this terrible fate on us all after he watched Billy Pierce pitch well in 1959. But that means when good days happen, you learn to really, really cherish them. SOX TO THE PLAYOFFS!

Track Tuesday! 10x 400 meters with 90 seconds rest in between. 3.5 minutes rest after interval 5. It was under 90°F so Coach brought the hurt. I'm very pleased with my consistent pacing & strong finish. I collapsed in the grass afterwards and spent a few minutes relearning how to breathe. #running

This was supposed to be 12 miles, but I was having fun with a personal programming project this morning, waited until it was hot, and bailed. No regrets, either. I treated running like my job for a few years. I don't serve running. Running serves me, ya know? #running

There should be a hammock at the halfway point of every run. Already entirely too hot this morning. I was wearing my Here For The Women's Race shirt, and a young woman stopped me while I was refilling my flasks to ask about it. Sharing trail #running with new people always gets my spirits up.

My favorite "race" of the year. This neighborhood throws jello shots, full unopened beers, plastic lawn flamingos as beer bongs, bbq nachos, pulled pork sandwiches, and more at runners. With glow sticks, bubbles, DJs, and live bands along the way. It is a block party where everyone wins. #running

Making up some volume for my paltry 0.5 miles yesterday! Another 96°F September day where I emptied the ice tray into my bandana. It felt surprisingly sustainable. Maybe because I was listening to Meg Eckert describe running 600+ miles in 6 days. Puts things in perspective. #running

I tried super shoes for the first time at my track club's 800 meter race tonight. Led the thing wire-to-wire, won it outright, and dropped my adult PB by 20 seconds. It felt incredible - I never slowed down. 2:22 official. What the hell just happened. #running

It is unbelieeeeeeevably humid. But below 80°F, and the cool breeze hit like drugs. Ran a mile or so with a new run clubber. Otherwise it was just me and David Roche's pop/rap playlist. The second 7.5 loop FLEW by. A reminder that once (if?) Memphis cools down, I'll be ready to rip. #running
