How high it lifts my car or Kate Willett's bike (at least according to Tom Peterson ...)
Screenshot from the discussion of Peterson et al., 2011 (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1029/2011GL048442) discussion commenting how much changes in moist enthalpy in the lowermost boundary layer would raise my car and Kate Willett's bike.

You won’t be offended if I don’t wait up to find out whether you made it? I have a lovely view of the trains coming in and out. Tomorrow evening I start back to Ireland which is equally liable to mishaps but only Paris tomorrow as meeting only finishes late

It feels a little like the editorial team at the Irish mail on Sunday may have gone rogue on the owners as this is the second one they’ve asked for. Note the headlines are theirs obviously. My view is you have to talk to everyone before folks pile on here.
A comment piece in the irish mail on Sunday on the unep overshoot report, Ireland’s carbon tax and the upcoming ets2.

Absolutely gutted to return from ipcc lead author meeting to find this is what is considered ‘clearing windthrow’ still. This was a thriving ecosystem with natural regrowth and a family of pine martens. No more …
Clearly cut ‘windthrow’ at the small subset of rahane woods.

I try not to go on planes very often. Do they always smoke like this nowadays? My bag has not made it this far which was extra bit of excitement. Looking forward to a hectic @ipcc.bsky.social lead author meeting for the special report on climate and cities in bhopal

Filing under clouds I’ve never seen before these two little horseshoe clouds are at exact height of the top of the wind turbines and about one full turbine rotation apart but just the two so I’m a bit flummoxed here. Clouds are middle right and lower left
Two very weird little clouds low in the atmosphere shaped a little like horseshoe against high cirrus

Did you try taking only a hand car on? I miss the twizy …
Side of the wrapped twizy using graphics from 2013 ipcc report about future projectionsThe other side of the twizy about attribution to human causesThe rear of the twizy making a very bad pun ‘when shall we stop?’ Using the brake lights as the top of the thermometers. In retrospect it’s a wonder no lunatic climate denier didn’t rear end it out of spite

Holyhead honing into view. It’s a reasonably strong nor’easter and we all know such a set up has never caused issues at Holyhead…

Taking the youngest on a trip to London for couple of days and also courier (again) for @beccathorne.bsky.social art work to a competition. We’ve decided (might be the royal we, getting shade from youngest) to photo document its journey.
Art work made it past ferry check in by walking fast past security. Here the art is admiring the fair city of DublinArt work waving goodbye to Dublin as we pass the lighthouse at the port entrance

At least some people took up the challenge and the answer was clear to one of the questions. On the other a clear divide between users and c3s staff. All very interesting and already discussing next steps with team and our technical officer…

Finally we went to the maharees where the community presented the actions they had taken to address substantial degradation to the tombolo dune system. They presented their adaptation plan which will be key to protecting this unique environment.

Rolling off the ferry at Holyhead to get to Suffolk for my stepfather’s 80th and my younger brother bets no way I make it without charging. A bets a bet although I maybe hoped it wouldn’t be quite this close. Tbf it’s 50km over the advertised range. (1/2) - stay for the kicker

Its mercifully calm but its starting to get tempers raised that we are sat outside the port for now 2 1/2 hours looking at a stranded stena line ship that has itself been loaded for the past 3 or so hours. This is going to take a loooooooong time to resolve with just 1 berth operating.
