Thanks for asking and trying to help! Forced R to take a nap in it all cleaned up, just thought it was too funny not to share. I was in a cloud folder; I suspect that's the source of the hiccup.

Interesting that it's going down for democrats as well! I'd expect that they'd be pushing hard about Trump given the (for-them) favorable electoral climate. Is there also a decline in the number of emails sent, or is the proportion mentioning Trump going down as well?

Had some fun trying to think about how to dramatize voters' choices in the 2024 election, so I pulled CES data and let you guess how respondents (validated voters) actually voted (or said they did) in 2024. profmusgrave.github.io/votergame2024/

Every time I post survey data on here many of the replies are something to the effect of "I can't imagine how anyone could support..." and folks I'm sorry, the guy's been winning elections for ten years, if you have absolutely zero idea how that's been happening, that isn't a brag

I initially thought that you'd be right with Taylor Swift, but it looks like it's been more popular for newborn girls post 1990 or so! It's probably "gender neutral" in terms of the names of US adults at this point, though---or at least more so.

Peter Licari @peterlicari.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
Look, I don't control what things my brain wants to investigate: I'm just along for the ride. I was curious about how gender neutral names evolved to be "neutral" (here 45-55% male). So I plotted the histories of the top 20 gender neutral names from 2019-2023. #databs
A grid of 20 line graphs showing historical percentage trends of male births for the top gender-neutral US names (2019–2023), titled "Most gender neutral names of kids born between 2019 and 2023 in the US started as names for boys rather than girls."

I'm once again begging everyone to update their priors. "ChatGPT is not a search engine." Yes, yes it is. It actively searches the web based on your prompt, and returns active links relevant to your search/prompt. It's a search engine. It is. (Obvs don't use it that way if that's not your thing)

(Joke aside, I am actually unreasonably excited. I want there to be more professional dialogue between social scientists in academia and those in the private sector. It may not be an article on anything I've done since I've graduated, but I'm glad to contribute to that dialogue in some small way.)

From my individual experience (take it as an n of 1): 1) Execs want us to produce more and/or faster but mgmnt understands limits. 2) We basically become hybrids of A&B and/or internal consultants for folks who try to use AI responsibly 3) Approval for tooling is slow, so we're basically in 2023

Identification strategies based on spatially allocated resources / outcomes usually aren't actually isolating random or chance patterns. Very little is actually random when it comes to the spatial distribution of goods / services / people / outcomes.

There's huge variety of voting procedures in the US, owing to the little-f federal approach to it. Some states allow mail-in ballots so long as they're postmarked by the correct date. States allow folks to "cure" contested mail ballots. Some require hand (re)counts if the margins are close enough.

Yes---because I don't think AT&T coverage causes lower birth rates per se. Counties with higher coverage in 2007 likely differ on important factors that are, themselves, closer to the root cause of the decline. The *association*, I suspect is real, but I'm betting it's spurious.

It makes some sense, but the number of dimensions has to be far, far larger than 2---evidence for which (to your first point) is slim (for 2) to none (for 2+). The existenc of horseshoe voters is, IMHO, much more easily explained by Converse. (Someone got the meme handy?)
