In general Utah has a ton of beautiful wild places with stunning views. Zion is amazing (watch out for the squirrels, they will eat through your backpack for your food if you leave it on the ground :D), but my personal favourites were Bryce Canyon (and the the drive via Red Canyon) and Canyonlands.

Slot Canyons are beautiful but also deadly. Flash floods happen every year due to rain that may have fallen hours before dozens of miles away (and not even a crazy amount, just, you know, normal rain) and these tend to kill people who happen to be there each year. So there is that.

It's much more expensive and less efficient to resuscitate a system killed off by partisan politics - be it a scientific or any other kind. Why? Because the individuals that left it (and the country) won't come back just because "we are nice to you now". Lost trust means lost years if not decades.
