Microsoft wants to build a 160MW AI data centre just outside of Leeds, next to the River Aire. By its own numbers the resulting habitat loss is massive. The reedbed and wet woodlands will lose 87% of their biodiversity value whilst the site as a whole will lose 72% of its existing wildlife habitats.

Young people are fantastic, and the more time I spend delivering scouting activities the more I’m convinced of that. The watersports team I volunteer for hosted 130 young people in 5 different crafts. I’m in the orange boat in the middle of this pic, putting someone back in their kayak (again)!
