Google also expects Isaias to move faster than the traditional models, which would allow Isaias to get much stronger as it would avoid some of the wind shear building along the northern Gulf. as a result, their forecast has Isaias hitting cat 3 major hurricane status before making landfall at cat 2.

Google's model has been the top performer both last year and this year and it, along with the other machine learning models are putting Isaias farther to the east.

water temperatures in the Gulf are about 1 - 2 degrees warmer than normal, so plenty of energy to fuel Isaias' development

on top of that, the entire coastal region from Biloxi to Tallahassee can expect 4-6" of rain, although i think that estimate will go up as Isaias gets closer to coming ashore

Isaias will track across almost the entire width of the Gulf south to north, and will be pushing a significant amount of water along it's right front quadrant. current forecast is for a 5-7 ft. storm surge at the point of landfall and to the east.

the official forecast track has Isaias coming ashore right at the Alabama/Florida border but overall the models are leaning a bit farther east along the Florida panhandle

forecast track guidance from a super ensemble of all the models has this storm tracking toward the Mississippi/Alabama border. no sharpie needed this time. multiple refineries look to be in the path of this thing. good thing there isn't a fuel supply crisis going on at the moment.

but as i said yesterday, the consensus is a move east and then north over the Gulf, which will give this system plenty of runway to build up some strength and the intensity models are starting to reflect that. this is going to be one to keep an eye, people.
