Portrait of a young Brown Cuckoo-dove. #birds
Portrait photograph - shoulders up - of a slender pigeon in brown, orange, and cream, with dark barring on the side of its head. Its iris has two rings of colour: The outer ring is vivid red, the inner ring resembles a blue solar eclipse with the pupil as its dark centre.

Brilliant! After 1.5 hours of stamping around in the Brisbane sauna today, deciding there were no owls, trying to take a short cut back to the car ... that looks like a great nest hollow ... that tree looks nice for roosting ... that looks like scat! ... (looks up) f**k me there's a Powerful Owlet!

I remember taking this shot. I was sitting quietly by a sheep trough when I saw this spotted harrier approaching. So I got ready and rattled off some shots as it flew by - low and slow - hunting. It had no idea I was there. My favourite raptor, btw.

A pair of Boobook Owlet's in a a Brisbane park. The chicks tend to be less flighty than adults, choosing the stay-as-still-as-possible tactic. This pair were not well hidden, being on the edge of a path, even though there were plenty of bushy roost trees towards the creek. #birds #wildoz #brisbane

A small stonechat with a rich orange-rust breast, dark face, and speckled brown crown balances delicately on a strand of barbed wire. Its legs are thin and slightly akimbo, giving the impression of a mid-step pose. The background is a smooth green blur, making the bird’s warm colours and fluffy plumage stand out sharply.

A photograph featuring two small Silvereyes (Zosterops lateralis) perched on bare, leafless tree branches against an overcast white sky. The Silvereyes are characterized by their olive-green and yellow plumage and prominent, diagnostic white rings around their eyes. The two birds are positioned slightly apart on a thin branch, both facing toward the left.

Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo munching on the seed pods of a Banskia tree. 🌳🦜 Doesn't get more Aussie than that! 🇦🇺🦘 #BirdOfTheDay #birds #birdphotography #birding #birdwatching #birdwatchers #nature #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #wildlife #Canon #R5 #Australia
A close-up, profile photograph of a Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami) perched in the dense foliage of a native Australian Banksia shrub. The large, black cockatoo is positioned in the center, facing right, with its bright yellow cheek patch prominently visible. Its eyes are dark, rimmed with pink/red. It is using its large, grey beak and black clawed foot to hold and intently eat the seed pod of the Banksia plant. The background is filled with silvery-green and darker green Banksia leaves and distinctive woody seed cones.
