The late Yale medievalist John Boswell famously gave a class lecture where he read aloud the first few paragraphs of an article in a popular science magazine about neutrinos, but he substituted the word "angel" for "neutrino" every time it appeared in the text. And it still made perfect sense.

#JewishStudies #JudeoArabic #HebrewBibliography It appears to be published in vol 2 in Budapest, (1948–1958)? It seems there is a reprint by Rubin Mas, but I do not know whether it is a facsimile or has a different pagination. Many thanks in advance!

I just happen to have a special interest in this work. It's preserved in very few copies, seemed to have rised interest among early modern scholars, one of the few extant copies of the work is by Alfonso de Zamora, now in the Bib. Angelica.

It just reminded of the Latin hand in BNF, hébr. 1230, a bilingual Heb-Lat copy of David Qamhi's S. haMikhlol. It not even a correction! (yet). I'll need to check Richler, Pasternak and Beit-Arié's catalogue, thank you for your work.

These two pages are the Hebrew book of Numbers written in Arabic script (~11th century). You read that right: it's Hebrew language transliterated using the Arabic alphabet for Arabic-speaking Jews. Manuscripts like this have proven vital to reconstructing medieval Hebrew pronunciation traditions.
Light brown paper bifolium with 9 lines of messy brown-black Arabic script pointed with a combination of Arabic consonantal diacritic dots and Hebrew vowel dots. The manuscript sits on a blue background next to a yellow label that reads T-S Ar.52.242 P1 (images and metadata here: https://cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/view/MS-TS-AR-00052-00242/1)
