Anyway, go out there and have fun, Andre. Hey, you know what's fun? Scoring goals.

There's a non-trivial chance the Sens season rests on how well Burakovsky plays with Stützle and Batherson. In a pinch, they can always throw Amadio back up there, but you know Tarvis Green wants to keep his Amadio-Pinto-Giroux security blanket line intact.

there's a premise in harmony by project itoh about losing consciousness by automating the human body and mind. "the harmonious brain is a brain with all uncertainty removed" it's ironic that these guys argue ai is conscious when they ultimately want to live an unconscious life

Having a goalie steal you games kind of reminds me of having a well. On the one hand, you don't want to go back to the well too often. On the other hand, that's why you got the well to begin with.

Looks like the Florida Panthers' downside risk due to building a roster out of ancient mummies who may disintegrate into dust to be scattered by the four winds might be increasing.

The whole show was one of the classic cases of an artist not understanding what makes their own art good. Many such cases (e.g. George Lucas)

I think Game of Thrones is the only answer that not only retroactively destroyed the reputation of the show but also that of the writers/showrunners.

Again, they need to beat some real threats before we learn how good they really are, but these games are 2 points they just gotta have and they are getting them going away.

Obviously the question is whether or not they can keep doing this against NHL-level competition, but tonight they play the Red Wings so we still won't find out the answer.

I'm trying to keep my keel even, but I'm not sure I've ever watched a Sens team that looks like the one that dominated the 3rd period against Toronto and the game against the Bruins. They didn't really destroy TOR and BOS in the traditional sense so much as smother them to death with a pillow.

Had he stayed, I would have hoped that he'd try to develop his game in a more cerebral direction. Now that he's gone, I do not need to worry about that ever happening.

They guys who would "take over a game", or at least try, were always guys like Sanderson and Stützle. Brady played in 4th gear the whole time and had nowhere to go.

LP @peristy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
That said, by the end of last season, I think we all saw the limitations to his style of play, which were namely that he didn't have any chemistry with any other Sens player, his offensive game was highly predictable, and he never had the juice to elevate his game to go get a goal when needed.
250
LP @peristy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I think this is slightly uncharitable because whatever else was going on with him, he was always a strong driver of play offensively. Even last year, where there wasn't a single player who didn't benefit from playing with him, at least in terms of xGF.

I remember Stützle getting completely hosed on multiple calls against the Canes in the playoffs. Maybe Steve wasn't covering those games for his watchalongs.

LP @peristy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
On replay, Stützle's head was basically completely blocked by the stanchion so I guess you can just say whatever you want. The amount of bleating I heard led me to believe that there was going to be an angle showing 3 ft of air between the stick and Stützle's face but somehow I haven't seen that yet

For a guy who is supposed to be the biggest diver in the league, it's shocking how bad he is at actually drawing calls from it. If he falls down on a play, it's at best 50/50 that he'll get the call.
070
LP @peristy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Steve Dangle's 8 minute long rant comparing Tim Stützle's alleged diving to Nazem Kadri's ability to draw calls betrays a distressing lack of Puck Knowledge, and worse, indicates the presence of terminal Stützle Derangement Syndrome.
