So what does the organization structure look like for 510+ submissions for two parallel open calls when you are reading all stories by yourself and trying to keep things straight? Like this - (l-r) Stories yet to randomize, stories yet to be read, stories read, current finalist folder.
A set of 8 folders in two rows of 4 stuffed full of submissions.

The left half of the image has the text:
THE CREW:
A ‘hero’ that does what he believes is right no matter who pays the cost.
Two sisters who have risen from the darkest corner of the galaxy to fight oppression.
An energetic pilot that ignores commonsense to prove he can do the impossible.
A mathematical genius who’s pattern recognition makes all computers envious.

A Monster's Resentment is an image of a black hole.
Masks & Lies is an image of an Earth-like planet with the right half of the planet burning.

Heck yeah.
Human-made over 5 years

No AI has been used to generate any code or content in or about the game, and never will be. Slow Roads has been a labour of love since the project began in 2021, and has been built with a decade of experience in 3D graphics and creative software development. Textures are hand-drawn, sounds are recorded locally, and all systems are designed and engineered specifically for the unique context of the game. This is a solo-developed project that I take great care over, and I believe AI simply doesn't belong in creative projects like these.

Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures used to generate the world in the game are mathematical functions that have been derived and defined by hand, with direct creative intent.

October 2026 Book Releases
It's the end of the month, which means it's once again time to look ahead to some great upcoming book releases. This month's list is a bit lighter than last month's, coming in at 26 books. Although, that's still probably way more than I'll ever have time to read. Oh well. Hopefully, I'll get to them all one day. Regardless, I'm excited to see them enter the world and find their readers.

Last days of Dutch Summer. 📷 by me.
A road less traveled.

A small path between a ditch and a wire fence, rows of trees lining the right while another row of smaller trees heads of to the left.Dry leaves from the dry summer heat litter the ground, mushrooms emerging here and there from the forest floor. The sun spills through the trees, illuminating the still green leaves of a young tree which is growing in the shadow of its kin.Beneath mighty clouds a green carpet of grass, reeds, shrubs, and trees.

The water is devoid of the birds you usually see here, maybe already preparing to head south for the winter?
