I can well believe it. I took luncheon there during the summer, at the Fire Engine, with a group of the wise men. It so happened to be the day Farage announced his resignation, so we were not short of conversation. I'm also due to meet the mayor, so I shall happily bear your kind invitation in mind

They need more time to be explained, though the strategy should begin now. Opposition to the EU is largely based on fear and ignorance, and it will take a little time to replace that with rational explanation.

I doubt Burnham will put off his plan, since at the moment he holds both narrative and all the cards. For what it's worth, East Anglia Bylines published a long series on 'Our Place in Europe' (to which the esteemed Mr O Conghaile contributed), and it about to be resurrected, to fight the good fight.

Im not sure what you're talking about, and I'm not convinced you are either. I have no intention of defending Labour. I'm merely trying to recognize when there is a realistic chance of change, and it seems unreasonable to attack Burnham when he has only just got his knees under the table..

I told you, I'm not here to defend Labour. In theory the party sets policy, but in practice conference bullies delegates and gets away with what it wants. But as I pointed out in the diary, it seems Burnham has his own ideas. Talk of Brexit was forbidden, but there is a new sheriff in town.

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Cameron's referendum was merely a tactical party ploy to get him out of a hole, but instead it got him into a much deeper one. A referendum was unnecessary and is entirely irrelevant to decision making on this.
