The points being made here about diagnosis and support are so true. That’s why those of us trusted to work in identification services within current assessment frameworks need to be so alert to the variety of autistic experiences

I'm excited to be leading a workshop on Cavendish Space this evening, which I created with @stimpunks.org Cavendish Space isn’t about “fixing” people. Through campfires, watering holes, and caves, we learn that wellbeing is relational, sensory, and collective. stimpunks.org/glossary/cav...
A slide titled “Building Neurodivergent Cultures of Regulation through Cavendish Space.” The background shows a campfire burning in a forest at night. Large text reads “Cavendish Space.” Below are three panels: “Campfire” with an image of a fire and the words “Shared meaning and orientation, storytelling and framing, collective understanding, low-demand presence”; “Watering Hole” with elephants at water and the words “Social connection and co-regulation, conversation and exchange, body doubling, neurodivergent love languages”; and “Cave” with a person in a mountain cave and the words “Solitude and sensory regulation, quiet, rest, focus, withdrawal and safety, sensory autonomy.” At the bottom, text reads: “Cavendish Space is inspired by primordial human patterns of learning and relating. Neurodivergent people often need movement between all these different spaces to be regulated and creative.” Logos for Autistic Realms and Stimpunks appear in the corner.

Late diagnosis for Black autistic women often means years of being mislabeled: “difficult,” “dramatic,” “lazy,” or “too sensitive.” When racism and ableism overlap, our needs are dismissed as character flaws 👌🏽

This. The over-functioning that is often expected of women, with the added layer of sprinting to keep up that society forces on black women.

Pebble Autism @pebbleautism.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
Absolutely this. And because society rewards it, over functioning is often not considered to be harmful, especially among women.
