Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 19/08/2026Wow, this brought back long-forgotten memories not only of the movie itself, but also of trying to play the movie tie-in video game on the Amiga 500. I don't think I ever made it past the chase scene in the cemetery at the beginning of the game. 010
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Spent some time liberating the zippers from a few of those plastic zippered bags that new bed sheets come in. I like to reuse them when I'm making bags or purses that need a zipper. 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Goodbye, Chaos. You were absolutely the best cat who ever chose us as family. Thank you for the last fifteen years. You will be deeply, deeply missed 💔 051
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 11/07/2026Made a simple tote bag for someone who loves all things Disney. All the fabric was thrifted: a sweatshirt, a pair of bright red jeans, and a small bit of polka dot fabric someone had donated. No pattern this time, I just used my knowledge gained from experience...I'm learning! Yay! 😄 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Our previous cat used to do this. Ages ago I heard it referred to as a "murderchirp", and we've been calling it that ever since. 110
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 16/06/2026Finished the chainmail dice bag for my daughter's teacher, and also made a sun catcher for one of her other teachers. At first I worried an all bright aluminum dice bag would be boring, but I really like it. Also love the color combo on the suncatcher; I might need to make me a necklace just like it 000

Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 12/06/2026My daughter's teacher loves D&D, so what better end of year thank you gift than a chainmail dice bag. I genuinely enjoy making these bags, but now that the base is done I'm on to the tedious part...around and around until it's at the right depth. I take _so_ many breaks at this stage. 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 07/06/2026Won a game of bobbin chicken with only eight inches of thread left on the bobbin...I think that's a new record for me. 010
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 09/05/2026Chaos turns 15 today! He's definitely slowing down, but he still loves to play and cuddle in equal measure. He's celebrating with an extra serving of gooshy food while he enjoys his new cat watering fountain :) 081
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 26/04/2026For Mom's birthday I made her a bag using scraps from the quilt I made her for Christmas. She loves both the quilt and the bag, but honestly? I think I like the bag better. 360
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 19/04/2026My second public bellydance performance since 2019. Not only was it for the residents of an assisted living facility, it was at my mom's ALF 🥰 The residents and staff were delighted we were there, and we are honored to have danced for them. Dancing at retirement/ALFs is such a joy! 000

Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 10/02/2026When I'm learning a new weave, I find a suncatcher is the way to go rather than a bracelet (I rarely wear bracelets). Learned the Kyy weave, and I kinda love it. It looks more complicated than it is, and it weaves up quickly. Now to find a window space in which to hang it :) 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Here's the tutorial I used. It's not shown in the vid, but I recommend re-squaring (re-hexagoning?) after applying the fleece just to keep the shape from getting too wonky. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwl1...youtube.comThe Cozy Christmas Hack | Sewing Projects That Make the BEST ThoughtfulYouTube video by Thuy crafts 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Made some mug rugs as a gift for one of my daughter's teachers who's really into D&D. They're a little wonky, but I learned a lot. I find stitching through the images in the middle a little distracting, so next time I'll stitch-in-the-ditch. Already planning on making more for our gaming table :) 100
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 07/01/2026I also used an old hairbrush on the seams before washing just to get the fraying process started. Beware...it's messy. 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 07/01/2026This is the tutorial I used if anyone else wants to give it a go. I'd recommend re-squaring your squares after sewing the X in the middle, and I washed mine in a duvet cover to help keep the fraying threads from clogging my washer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t0H...youtube.comBeginner Rag Quilt Tutorial | The Easiest Quilt You’ll Ever Sew (No Binding, No Batting, No Stress!)YouTube video by Chelsea | She Sews Seams 000
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 07/01/2026I don't quilt, but for some reason I decided my mother needed a rag quilt. Turned out fine (and she loves it), but cutting ~200 squares drove me up the wall. Will I make another? Not anytime soon. Learned a lot, though, and my already great respect for quilters and their art has only increased. 4131
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 18/12/2025Life won't allow me to dive back into bellydance to the degree that I was pre-2019 (and if I'm being honest, I'm not sure I'd want to), but a laid-back, every-so-often show at a retirement/assisted living/memory care facility? Yes, please, that would be lovely. 020
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 18/12/2025I haven't bellydanced since 2019. Multiple life circumstances have conspired to keep me away from the dance, but this past Saturday I was invited to join w/ a troupe dancing at an assisted living/memory care place. It felt so good to dance again; I didn't realize how much I missed it. 120
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 07/12/2025Our "Dark Shadows" rewatch is going slower than we'd like because life keeps getting in the way, but we're almost to Barnabas! I'd forgotten how the first actor who played Willie Loomis did such a good job portraying him as so utterly sleazy. He totally makes my skin crawl! 010

Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 21/10/2025A friend commissioned a 30" continuous Byzantine chain for the pendant he bought over the summer. Mangled the hell out of the final ring up towards the top because the space was too tight for even my smallest pliers 🙁 Thankfully it doesn't show, and grateful that my friend doesn't mind. 010

Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 29/09/2025Thank you for this. It helped my daughter begin to unwind her spiraling anxiety thoughts, and thus helped her to recover from the meltdown she was in. She's still learning how to punch her anxiety brain, but this visual gave her the chance to take a much needed deep breath. Seriously, thank you. 120
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 24/08/2025Yesterday my spouse and I escaped the 100+ degree heat by staying inside and replaying couch co-op Divinity Original Sin all day. It and its sequel are probably our favorite couch co-op turn-based RPG; I think this is our 3rd or 4th playthrough. Always a fun time! 010
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 13/08/2025Continuing our Dark Shadows rewatch and had to pause during an episode. We hit the pause button as Laura Collins (the Phoenix) was sitting in front of a fireplace, and noticed we just happened to catch the flames in a vague phoenix shape. A fun coincidence; couldn't have timed it better! 😄 081
Peacoctopus @peacoctopus.bsky.social · 04/08/2025Made a couple of bracelets as teacher thank yous, each in a color scheme the teachers like. I always panic a little when making bracelets as gifts for other people, because I have to guess at how big to make them and worry they won't fit. At least the one on the left is stretchy... 010
