I am very frustrated with the consensus among many that school closures are bad (for their own kid) so they have a blanket opposition without acknowledging the ongoing harm that historical and current underserved students face. This is apparently fine because it is the status quo to these families.

Biked 57 miles out to Oxbow today on my e-bike. So many parts of town along the Columbia River, Columbia River Highway, through Troutdale, Gresham & East Portland. Besides riding on many roads that need a road diet, it's just very nice to see all the beautiful places & people in this city by bike.

The IRA had subsidies for heatpumps & passed in 2021. After the process for OR to get a grant to write policies and then get funding, I got a heat pump during the 6 weeks before the credit was exhausted in July/August 2025. Process needs some work when this administration is booted out of office.

This project was never viable and many people made a lot of money on something that wasn't needed. The only viable part was buildable caps over the existing highway until it is eventually decommissioned for the coming post-urban freeway era.

The 9000 sampled Oregonians (40% not from PDX) thought transit should be 19% of OR’s transpo budget. From 2023-2025, the legislature proposed 8% of budget to to transit; the governor cut that to 7%.

First time in New Columbia? Stuff like that and the mix of old (Columbia Villa-era) and new (20 years old) street trees provides a lot of shade along many of the streets which is very nice on hot summer days.

It's also impacting afternoon traffic, which was much lighter to get from North Portland to Vancouver which I have to drive once a week. It has been much easier than before the RQ southbound closure.
