Imagine the sheer unalloyed joy of wrestling the rear wheel out to discover the brake pads you researched minutely are the wrong ones. Arghh! Fire it all back together. #MotoSky
Show the victim the tools - a tool chest with replacement brake disc, pads, brake grease, threadlock brake cleaner, torque wrenches large and small and calipersA Ducati Scrambler up on axle stands with rear wheel removedThe old worn brake pads next to the shiny new brake pads... waiting a minute! They are similar, but NOT the same.

Very strange. If I was cynical I might suggest that ridiculous amounts of pressure were exerted from the US for a statement that slightly diluted their senior figures looking like stupid pricks. but I don't know jack @brokenbottleboy.bsky.social

Guardian lead yesterday - “strong indications” that Iran played a role... Andy Burnham has said. Today *crickets* have to work to even find the story. A story that was moving towards 'local idiots get caught' was suddenly a major foreign terror signalled by the Prime Minister no less.

Took a Heritage Open Day visit to Brackenfell, a modernist house built in 1938 by Sadie Speight and Leslie Martin for Alistair Morton, artist and director of Morton Sundour textiles and Edinburgh Weavers. Such generosity from the owner, thanks! @grindrod.bsky.social

It seems slightly pointless, but with my boring hat on, it is always useful to set a brief... making rules brings out the creativity. See motorsport for countless examples where they push the limit of the rulebook.

Luxuriating in the musical warm bath of listening to TV Theme Tunes and I discover something that seems highly unlikely about Fawlty Towers, I feel @dirtyfeed.org would surely have mentioned it..? Yeah, nah Spotify en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_...
A Spotify Playlist 'UK TV Theme Tunes' its got absolute bangers like Grandstand, Studio 69 (Dave Allen) The Professionals etc.the extra info for Fawlty Towers lists the composer/artist as Dennis Wilson, The London Ensemble. It then goes on to detail Dennis Wilson out of the Beach Boys bio. Reader, it was not THAT Dennis Wilson

the reactions to Barbara Castle, Minister of Transport introducing the Road Safety Act 1967 (70mph speed limit, drink driving) are incredible. Challenged by a BBC journalist who described the policy as a "rotten idea" and asked her: "You're only a woman, you don't drive, what do you know about it?"

I now want to play Holy Diver at volume 11, but my other half has chosen this day to share the home office (a staggeringly rare occurence) and has a strict no music policy as she does important work and must concentrate (I draw things, so can blast tunes all day). Gaggghh!

He also has a habit of describing facial features as 'cruel'. Eyes and mouths in particular... I think he might even have described someone's hair as cruel once. Not sure how any of it actually works(imagine making the photofit!) but it works superbly in his style of taut paperback prose. #bond

Re-visiting Fleming's Bond novels, he regularly mentions characters 'sunburned', 'sunburnt' 'burnt and burned by the sun'. Never meaning what we understand today, red, raw, he means tanned, dark or brown, a healthy glow. Was this a general switch or just Fleming? @susiedentwords.bsky.social #Bond

As @hebtroco.bsky.social have been discovering since they started... people will tell you they want to shop ethically, they'll tell you they want to 'bring back manufacturing' etc. then when you tell them how much the real cost is... ...well it gets to ugly name calling about hipsters real quick

What Andy Burnham's £80 T-shirt really tells us
This isn't just a story about expensive clothes. It's about where things are made, about why you can't really trust what it says on the label and about what happens after the "end of geography"
