Enough is enough. We HAVE TO VOTE. ALL OF US...in numbers too big to rig. The best way to do this is by getting your vote in EARLY! No Kings is coming together again TOMORROW, Sat Oct 17, this time to make sure every eligible voter is ready to make their voice heard. @nkcoalition.bsky.social

Nope. French? Spanish or Hispanic? And the loaded American “WASP” designation is far narrower than anything we have ever applied in England.

Apparently there was Russian interference which led to “us” losing to the French. Tostig was probably a Russian agent yet the mainstream media refuses to cover this… they simply embroider their version of the truth!

Why on earth does this BBC piece on Burnham telling an interviewer the UK security services confirmed Russian interference in the Brexit referendum require a response from a pro Brexit pressure group? It's literally our Prime Minister telling us about election security. It's nothing to do with them.
The prime minister told The Rest is Politics podcast that upon arriving in No 10, he had asked about possible Russian interference in the 2016 vote, adding: "I've had the clear answer that, yes, there was."

"I think we've been too much on the back foot on that actually and we haven't informed people sufficiently about the extent to which people are seeking to disrupt the political process from overseas," he added.

Burnham did not provide further details about the type or extent of Moscow's activity during the Brexit referendum.

Britain Unbound, a pro-Brexit campaign group, said Burnham's comments were "another crude attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the decision that the British people made in 2016".

It said that foreign interference in UK elections was "obviously unacceptable" but added: "There is no good reason to believe that Russian intervention influenced the outcome of the referendum in 2016.

The Times and The Sunday Times both editorialise in their news sections more than they used to. It’s just that The Sunday Times is far less subtle about it.

The age old “problem of evil” is solved! Hurrah! Evil is actually good and a God who is both omnipotent and wholly good can allow, encourage even, evil to exist. Well done Peter.

25 for me. About right, some good shows but not obsessively into TV. Interested no Scandi - The Killing or The Bridge or, given the excellent The Bureau is on there, Spiral, almost as good.

This was just before, according to new evidence, Harold G and his army rushed south by hot air balloon to meet William the Bastard at Hastings. This is depicted in a long lost section of the Bayeux Tapestry.

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.

A gvt minister said: “Tax exiles & supporters of the most economically damaging decision in recent history, Brexit, have a right to their opinions. But we’re puzzled that Ratcliffe, an immigrant to Monaco, has such regressive views. We’re also surprised the BBC gives them such prominence.” I wish.

Opinion: My donation to Reform is a philanthropic gift to our country - The Telegraph A bizarre piece. Doesn’t mention the ethnonationalistic policies nor the platforming of people who want to burn refugees alive. He does mention a number of important issue on which Reform have zero credibility.

Obviously politicians who believe in democracy, supported by media who also value democracy need to stop the buying of our politics by wealthy individuals with specific business interests. But…. Money can’t buy a party decent values, credible policies or worthy leaders. Reform loses on each count.

A dilemma for institutional leadership. As there is a chance Reform might form a national government then mitigating the potential impact is sensible. The NHS has to deal with Reform in local government now, they have to try to make it work for patients & staff. Not easy given conflicting values.
