Happy that readership is somewhat standing up after changing platform, and the search algos now being actively hostile...if you like seeing arts coverage in New Orleans, please consider reading/supporting us! Thank you!

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels alone in a world where what lies ahead is uncertain. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. The boys have been out of town. Get them back into town. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says, 'BUT DOCTOR...

Ah, back in my childhood home. Just a quick look under the kitchen sink...let's see, liquids to clean the kitchen surfaces, a spray to freshen up after cooking, foam for cleaning the sink, and - huh - water for washing away the mark of sin that stains my mortal soul. I mean, good to have it on hand?
A close up of four bottles under my mum's kitchen sink: one is Dettol detergent, then a citrus air spray, a bottle of 'Shiny Sinks' polish and then a small clear plastic water bottle marked 'Lourdes Holy Water'.

Just went through airport security and there was a guy with a three-quarters full, five litre bottle of water doggedly trying to drink it all in front of an agent, a look of steely, fully hydrated determination on his face.

I wrote this list of 10 concerts that are among NOLA's most memorable, plus ONE that was famous because it DIDN'T take place...I also speculate on how many live concerts have EVER taken place in New Orleans. It's a few. (image: The Allman brothers on stage) www.outalldaynola.com/new-orleans-...

Acting superstition demands that 'MacBeth' is referred to as 'The Scottish Play' to avoid bad luck. But the name 'MacBeth' is said 42 times in the play itself. To really ensure no lasting curses, they should change the text and only refer to him as 'The Main Scottish Character'.

Seeing as it's considered New Orleans literary 'canon', I picked up a copy of The Moviegoer by Percy Walker (1960). The dedication certainly hits differently in 2026.

Grace Jones turns 80 today, an incredible performer and artist. A friend of mine went to see one of her shows in the 1990s and she ran into the crowd and started kissing everyone. When she got to him she said, “I’m going to kiss you now but if you put your tongue in my mouth I WILL bite it off.”

Million dollar idea: An airport hotel that asks what time you have to leave as you check in and then accommodates people with similar departure times in the same corridors so that you don’t get woken up by slamming doors at ungodly hours.
