Fantastic to see Burnham state that he has "long seen the green transition as the best chance we will ever have to reindustrialise Britain." I fully agree! Full op-ed here: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

British people understand the climate crisis threat. Today I’m empowering them to tackle it | Andy Burnham
With nearly £30m of funding, I’m giving communities power over local energy. They know the gravity of global heating, and they want to be part of the solution, says UK prime minister Andy Burnham

Some awesome framing from the PM in the Guardian today to accompany the ambitious policy on community energy After a summer of wildfires, extreme heat and poor harvests, we can't afford to see climate as only a threat, we must make sure UK is making most of opportunities of the clean transition

LCEF is proud to have supported this - with extreme heat becoming a regular occurrence in UK summers, it’s vital that we help keep people safe, cool and comfortable in their homes, as well as decarbonising to combat climate change. Air to air heat pumps will be an important part of the solution.

Improving air quality is a central piece of the puzzle for talking to people about their local communities, their neighbourhoods and their high streets. When government talks to the public about making the environment better, it has to (literally) meet people where they live.

Paul McNamee @paulmcnamee.bsky.social · 16/07/2026
Some great findings in our new report very relevant for an incoming Government. Labour are already doing some great things on air quality but are failing to tell a compelling narrative and are often leaving councillors who are doing the right thing exposed at the local level.

The most extreme examples of
Stendhal syndrome share a sensation of
self-fragmentation. Magherini

ambiguous nature that invaded him
and made him feel good and bad."
Unmoored and distressed, he sought

Watering down the ZEV mandate would be completely at odds with the leadership this Govt has shown on energy security & climate change, & its focus on lowering household living costs. The Govt has made a clear case for electrification to tackle these issues; EVs must be at the heart of its approach.
