More Xbox Layoffs They Promised Wouldn’t Happen After Acquisition Blitz
I'm starting to think we have unknowingly entered the age of great American civic nihilism. The impetus for that belief most recently has been RFK Jr. and the wider government's complete acquiescence to his bald-faced lies and betrayals. If nobody can be bothered to lift a finger over that man, then they obviously don't think...

Driver Ticketed For No Insurance Despite Having Insurance Just Because Flock Said She Didn’t
We've moved past cops doing stuff because a dog gave them permission to do it. Now, we're at the post-truth era of policing, where cops will do stuff because a machine told them to do it. We already know ALPRs (automated license plate readers) generate false positives. And we know that these false positives can...

Ospreys are disappearing along the US East Coast due to a shortage of Atlantic menhaden, a crucial food source for ospreys. One company alone harvested nearly 300 million pounds of the fish in 2024 but somehow claims they’re not at fault. 🧐

Ospreys are disappearing along the East Coast. Scientists think they know why.
At the center of a widening crisis for one of the nation's great wildlife comebacks is a fish most Americans would hardly recognize.

New Attack Against RSA
ArsTechnica is reporting on a "new" attack against RSA, one that bypasses factoring. First, this attack isn't new. The original research is from 2007. What is new is the implementation. Second, it is a forgery attack. It allows an attacker to forge digital signatures. It does not recover the private key from the public key. Third, the attack only works against pure signatures.

Increased police-ICE connection fits neatly within the general stance many Americans have which, as I've said many times, boils down to "deport the bad ones and let the good ones stay." The problem is that those are not real categories and the Trump admin doesn't believe in any "good ones."

White House’s legal defense for banning press is they “violated the standards of professionalism and decorum.” Lie. But SCOTUS might go for it. After all, it’s possible a reporter could be so undecorous. And who’s to say what that is? Same logic they used for the Muslim ban and the insurrection.
