Petrol price crisis? Tomorrow @octopus.energy will pay me about £5 to fully charge my car! 😆 Their ‘Agile’ tariff changes price every 30mins with demand, sometimes going negative. Hopefully this is genuinely interesting, but here’s my spammy £50 referral link too: share.octopus.energy/ore-dodo-899
Graph timeline showing tomorrow’s electricity prices which are negative until 4pm, meaning we get paid to use electricity. Time to charge all the batteries!

Is there a word for the recent phenomenon where us customers get tracking systems that show staff gaming their impossible-to-meet performance targets in real time? Like that notification for a delivery attempt that your doorbell camera somehow completely missed.

Apparently my payroll account gets deactivated due to inactivity if I don’t log in to it at least once a month. Who is downloading their (monthly) payslips more than once a month?! 🤪

I went curling yesterday while on a work trip to Toronto. 🥌 It was great fun! I thought it would be like bowling but it’s much more in depth. Surprisingly physical, and now every part of me hurts. (to the point where I’ve been told at home to stop moaning!)

It seems like @monzo.com's phone menu doesn't recognise tones being sent from any iOS device I've tried. Phone bug? Monzo bug? Works on an Android device.

I’ve been vibe coding a thing that I’m really pleased with so far. If you own a stack of domains for side projects you’ll get to one day, you might enjoy this too!

False advertising from Europcar: I booked an EV for a holiday in Spain. Website says "no recharge required" – the collection desk argued I must recharge it before returning it, and finally caved when I showed them the website. I get home, and – surprise surprise – they charged me for recharging. 🤷‍♂️

AI voice cloning scam calls – where scammers can record your voice to make an AI clone of it and then use that to scam your relatives. 👇 Presumably even your outgoing voicemail greeting might be enough for them to use if you don't answer their call. I've just deleted mine. 👀

I took my 8-year-old daughter to the office on 'Take Your Kid To Work Day'. But when we walked in the office she started to cry. As concerned staff gathered round I asked her what was wrong and she said: "Daddy where are all the clowns you said you worked with?"

Help! I’m looking for an expert in neurodiversity (in adults, in the workplace) to come and do a talk and raise awareness. Does anyone know someone who can do this? 🙏

Zoom need to make it so that if your dog or cat is on your lap, they're not blurred as part of the 'blur background' setting. I want to see your dogs and cats!

Stop eating your lunch at your desk. Go and have an actual proper lunch break. Nobody gives a shit that you keep working on your lunch break, least of all your boss. It's not going to get you a promotion, but it is going to burn you out.

Saying somebody “will be missed” is so passive and inauthentic, like there’s a silent “but not by me” at the end. If it was heartfelt it would be “I will miss them” or “many of us will miss them”. Same with saying “my apologies” instead of “I’m sorry”.

We all know that 6 was scared of 7 because 7 8 9... …but 7 was scared 2, 4 6 8 10.

"Hennimore it's vital I stay alert during this meeting so I'll need you to bring me my caffeine pills halfway through they're in a white bottle with a blue lid. On no account should you confuse them with my sleeping pills which have a blue lid & white bottle. I'll just leave them on this lazy Susan"

This is my life now. Thanks @anthropic.com 🤦‍♂️
A frustrating conversation with Claude AI, where it acknowledges that its response ignored my repeated and very clear instructions.

Stuck in another bugfixing loop with Claude AI 😞 I’m not a coder so I think what it can do is incredible… until it’s not.

Spent a little time today creating a BlueSky sidebar extension for Firefox. Still need to iron out some bugs and make it possible to interact with posts in it (it's view-only at the moment), but this could be nice 🙂
My 'compose post' screen on the BlueSky site open, with my home feed shown in the sidebar to the right thanks to my newly created Firefox extension.
