Anyone willing to replace students with tokens doesn't understand what it is universities do and probably should never have been allowed to have students to begin with

Can undergrads present posters here? I've been trying to figure out how to get to a couple students to a conference, and this would be a convenient option given we're two hours and change from Montreal.

Thanks for sharing this. All of the rising sophomores and most of the rising juniors at SLU were denied university funding for summer research due to the budget. We are trying to make noises about how this a problem so it is useful to have some info from a similar-ish school.

I think it means that the A in the logo is stylized so it kind of looks like a suspension bridge... which I guess I can kind of see but mostly that is just what the letter A looks like.

The best non-academic diss was when a labmate described my taste in music as "songs that have probably all been covered by college a cappella groups." I have never been so thoroughly yet unintentionally roasted.

Pretty sure I have skeeted this before, but a significant portion of my PhD work was described in the literature as "potentially pointless."
Portion of a table from a paper listing "examples of potentially pointless stereoselective syntheses from recent literature."

I contacted ACS about this on July 1 (after having not been able to access the feeds for 2–3 weeks)... so there does not seem to be much urgency to their work on it.

My high school (ca. 2008) didn't have any AP classes, but yeah, this tracks. Students more focused on science would take Physics and/or Chem II, whereas the others would take the "easier" Earth Science (scare quotes b/c I didn't take it so I don't know if it actually was easier).

We do a reasonable amount with models in gen chem lecture and lab, so students have some familiarity by organic. I'd like them to do a (physical) modeling activity in organic lab but I don't teach that class.
