Hope some of the other sculptures moved them more! I don’t have much justification other than that I really like the idea of a giant natural form contained in a box. I tend to like nature-highlighting art eg Turell’s skyspaces when they’re naturally lit. Also hope to get to City one day!

When it came time for the signage in our FiftyThree office, we didn't cut vinyl decals but instead hired sign painters. You couldn't tell the difference from a distance, but as you approached, you'd begin to see the individual brush strokes. I still think about it.

I remember first moving to Vancouver from Dublin and being surprised how many people I saw in wheelchairs. “There's a lot more people in wheelchairs here“ I thought before I had the much more sad realization that there are as many people in wheelchairs in Dublin, they just can’t easily get outside.

If you do all that, you might even write Jonathan Livingston Seagull and make twenty billion dollars and have every adult in America reading your book.

But you won't have every kid in America reading your book. They will look at it, and they will see straight through it, with their clear, cold, beady little eyes, and they will put it down, and they will go away. Kids will devour vast amounts of garbage (and it is good for them) but they are not like adults: they have not yet learned to eat plastic.

Andor’s so smart. They filmed among real architecture like the Barbican and the Principe Felipe science museum and then just CGI’d in the city scape backgrounds and it feels so good.

Software Design is weird. It is undoubtedly the most impactful medium shaping the world today, yet even those of us working in it know very little of its history. We have no broadly-read books, no docu-series, no video essays. Most see the works of the past as obsolete rather than a rich heritage.
