I sent a high power flashlight in for repair once. One of those $80 monstrosity that takes special batteries and can stun fish (probably, i dunno, sounded. good). Anyway, I told them it started fine but it wasn't bright anymore. They replaced it, and then I found the dimming button on the new one.
