Sep 1924: Tram Services ad from L.C.C. Trams «A Holiday Suggestion»
An advertisement for L.C.C. Trams suggesting a holiday trip to Highgate Village, Waterlow Park, Lauderdale House, Parliament Hill Fields, and Hampstead Heath. Tram services available from Hampstead to Parliament Hill Fields.

A Holiday Suggestion

THE story of Dick Whittington is a favourite one with most children, and Highgate Village has other charms. The two are connected. Near the foot of Highgate Hill a stone commemorates the tradition of Dick, who rested on the hill while London's bells called to him. Higher up are Waterlow Park and historic Lauderdale House, both public. Arrived at Highgate Village (Tramways Service 11), turn to the left, into South Grove. From this point it is a delightful country walk to Parliament Hill Fields and Hampstead Heath. Both have their chains of ponds for bathing, fishing and model yachting. There are lawn tennis courts and provision for other games as well. In short, this is one of London's pleasantest corners for several one-day holidays. For the return journey to town travel by Tramways Services 7 and 15 from Parliament Hill Fields or by 3 and 5 from Hampstead. If the rambler takes midday tickets (issued from Monday to Friday) the total cost for both outward and return journeys will not exceed 4d. for adults, 2d. for children.

Last day to sign up for my email art blog newsletter before the next issue drops! 70s-sci-fi-art.ghost.io I think this one's really fun. See if you can guess the theme based on this sneak peek. Artists: Johnny Bruck, Lee Gibbons, Fred Gambino, and Shusei Nagaoka.

So the cost cutting means no BBC Breakfast, but the retention of an overpaid presenter?

I'd never seen this Roy Lichtenstein painting before, but it's incredible how he manages unfailingly to make his copies worse than the original comics he's ripping off.
A drab pop art painting of a sinister man driving a car, watching a stoic blonde in leopard print fur. The proportions of the guy's face are offThe original image, from Girls' Romances 78 by Tony Abruzzo. The guy has a more sinister leer, while the woman has heavier mascara and feels both sadder and more determined. A caption reads "I vowed to myself I would NOT miss my appointment -- that I would NOT go riding with him--yet before I knew it..."
