I spotted (and bought) these Wotsits 'Bag of Bones' today, probably because they reminded me of Smith's Horror Bags from the 1970s. Given that Wotsits is a brand owned by the IP owners of Smith's, I'm wondering if the shapes are the same?....

I'm getting a retro bus ride thanks to the driver of my Go-Ahead London Bus. He had clearly been smoking in the bus before he started the drive..

.....unless, of course, you lived in Australia. There's the thing, dues to the craziness of borderless Social Media, the post ended up in the UK and was duly ripped.

Daily Mail Australia put this post up on Facebook yesterday, and despite a huge number of responses telling them its Brian Cant, and not Alistair Smart, they've left it up. A cynic would say it probably got more engagement because of the mistake.

Sep 1924: Tram Services ad from L.C.C. Trams «A Holiday Suggestion»
An advertisement for L.C.C. Trams suggesting a holiday trip to Highgate Village, Waterlow Park, Lauderdale House, Parliament Hill Fields, and Hampstead Heath. Tram services available from Hampstead to Parliament Hill Fields.

A Holiday Suggestion

THE story of Dick Whittington is a favourite one with most children, and Highgate Village has other charms. The two are connected. Near the foot of Highgate Hill a stone commemorates the tradition of Dick, who rested on the hill while London's bells called to him. Higher up are Waterlow Park and historic Lauderdale House, both public. Arrived at Highgate Village (Tramways Service 11), turn to the left, into South Grove. From this point it is a delightful country walk to Parliament Hill Fields and Hampstead Heath. Both have their chains of ponds for bathing, fishing and model yachting. There are lawn tennis courts and provision for other games as well. In short, this is one of London's pleasantest corners for several one-day holidays. For the return journey to town travel by Tramways Services 7 and 15 from Parliament Hill Fields or by 3 and 5 from Hampstead. If the rambler takes midday tickets (issued from Monday to Friday) the total cost for both outward and return journeys will not exceed 4d. for adults, 2d. for children.
