The rise of 287(g) programs has meant that ICE is increasingly using local police as a very significant force multiplier, with up to 1 in 8 arrests of noncitizens in the interior now being carried out by state and local police. This is going to have profound impacts on community relations.

I haven't litigated in your area of law, but sexual harassment cases are particularly nasty (esp. in California?). Not just for the survivors, but the defense attorneys do a lot of underhanded maneuvers to make life difficult for an ethical plaintiff attorney.

‘Dilley 2’ prison camp is even worse. ICE spokesperson confirmed they will deport unaccompanied migrant kids as quickly as possible. ‘Dilley 2’ in Alexandria, Louisiana, is within an airport, the country’s largest deportation hub. So migrant kids can be whisked into planes and trafficking.

*My hesitation on relying on federal laws is because I have seen federal refusal to act undermine legitimate civil fraud cases. I can imagine a non-profit persuasively arguing that the IRS doesn’t object, so why should anyone else?

Possibly. But I don’t know who will enforce that, since the IRS was decimated by DOGE. Civil Code 51.9 is a path to holding people financially accountable, at least in some measure. I know Jane Doe in that case was grateful for it. (I worked on the case.)

Plaintiffs-Appellants seek an emergency order clarifying that this
Court's September 18, 2026 decision is in effect as binding precedent and that this Court's March 16, 2026, stay "pending appeal" has been dissolved
now that the Court has issued its decision and judgment. In the alternative,
