really enjoyed this one also. I resonate with a lot of the points you hit, particularly the comparison to dollar-store injection molded crap. At least, I see the value in using mine- it got me to learn parametric CAD, I love that I can iterate and test-fit. And cosplay benefits immensely.

there's definitely a lot of "waiting for the tech to catch up" but I think of the valley between "printer as freedom / printer as a hobby in itself" from reprap, prusa, creality, to "printer as an appliance & means to an end" from bambu (and I guess makerbot, who tried and failed)

I'd love to see data on what breaks specifically. I figure lighthouse spinny lasers are roughly in the same engineering niche as barcode scanners for point-of-sale, and you'd think they'd have figured out reliable ones by now.
