That's exciting news! I'm happy for you and I'm ready whenever you are. A Feast for the Crows (Tok 2) is probably halfway drafted, but once I've got it edited and legible I'll definitely let you know lol.

Honestly your scenes always give the feeling of theater. There's a level of drama and flair that resembles a stage play to some extent~

You're right! Discomfort leads to change after all. So, ick or not, we gotta do it. I'm glad that it was able to tickle your brain. I was worried it might have been confusing for anyone but me. Especially in text over verbally. I'm always down to give thoughts/feedback if you ever need it!

October 7th – comparison Nik has plans to bring back some traditions from her old life! K’allon is a bit nervous about it. #DawnsBlood #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
“Fun, maybe, but is this really a good idea?” K’allon fell in step behind them.
“This is a fantastic idea.” Nik shot him a wicked smile.
“If you say so. Doesn’t really seem in line with the whole discipline thing you were going on about just now.”
“I meant every word of that. But if you expect your people to work hard, you’ve got to give them a chance to blow off a little steam, too.”
“This how you did it back in the day?”
	“Nah…”
	“I didn’t think so.” K’allon smirked.
“No, this is going to be pretty tame in comparison.” Nik laughed in response. “But there is a limit to what we have access to, out here. We’ll just have to make do.”
K’allon shook his head, ruefully. “So, what I am hearing is that all soldiers are as reckless as you?”
“Only the good ones.” She winked and jogged ahead to catch up with her crew.
S’immi moved to follow, but K’allon grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back.
“Hold on just a second, friend. You want to tell me why I didn’t know anything about this? It is a little embarrassing, given my position. And yours.”

#LitHodgepodge 7 Here is a snip where Ray shows the reader more about the realities of her life. She has a fairly dry, sarcastic tone and a blasé attitude towards some of the...peculiarities of her day-to-day. Her sentences tend to be blunt and straightforward, without much embellishment.
My apartment was on the fourth floor. Far enough up that no one could easily get in through the windows, but close enough to the ground floor that I didn’t have to take the elevator. I hated elevators. They were too enclosed, too…automated. Some might say that this was just a manifestation of my control issues, but people who willingly relinquished control didn’t last long in my line of work. So, I took the stairs two at a time, instead. If nothing else, at least it was good exercise.
My place wasn’t anything special, but it had all the things I valued in a home: thick, concrete walls, a reinforced steel door, reclusive neighbors, plentiful hot water, and my good first aid kit. It was the last two that I was most looking forward to at the moment.
I locked the door behind me, three bolts and a chain, and armed my alarm system. Then I turned on the shower and heated the water until it was just short of scalding. I scrubbed myself until my skin was fresh and pink. Then I slathered the scratches in antibiotic salve and bandaged them to keep them sterile. All cleaned up, I checked my watch: 4:00 a.m. Time for dinner.

#LitHodgepodge 7 I think this is pretty good.
Nadia returned to find Blair still laying on her back on the bed. Nadia sat down and began applying alcohol to the rags. Blair looked up at Nadia and raised an eyebrow.
“Something happened out there? What’s with that face?”
Nadia sighed. “Hester has figured out I’m in love with you.”
Blair started, “You’re in love with me?”
“Yes. Obviously. Since practically our first meeting.”
“So I’m dense as a tree trunk?” Blair said.
“It’s adorable.” Nadia said. And then she waited. She’d said it. And maybe, just maybe, Blair would say it back to her.
“I’m the worst person to be in love with in this castle, except the countess herself.” Blair said. “I’m going to get myself killed here. And then what?”

Nicole "Ashrah" Hidalgo 😈🧄👻 @sayaashrah.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
#LitHodgepodge 7. I... am bad at this. Internally, I recognise a "voice" in my stories, but I don't think I can put this feeling into words. I recognise POV traits, but... 🤷🏽‍♀️ So here's a snippet of Ashrah doing what she does best: fighting: #ChroniclesOfTheRealms #SayaAshrah
Fear did not stop demons, though. It only made them more reckless than they already were. And thus, the desperate horde swarmed Ashrah.

Precisely what she wanted.

She slashed and stabbed and skewered. Deflected a sword with Datusha, then gored the offending fiend, dodged under the claws of another, and brought the sword down on its back, cleaving its skull and torso in half.

Her vambrace blocked crude steel as Datusha sank into the onasha’s stomach. Grabbing its neck, she turned it towards a band of demons before eviscerating it. Entrails poured out in a stream of lava, vaporising those fiends who, unlike the oni born from fire, had no invulnerability to the element.

Among them, a piray strolled across the lava as unbothered as on solid earth and swung its hammer. She leapt atop the glowing weapon, and as she whirled above her befuddled foes, tearing and thrusting, the alarun of each slain demon mingled with Datusha’s blue light, drawing tapestries that illustrated her might.

From the moment she was born and scorned for the light purple shade of her skin, she had been a fighter. And she enjoyed it—the weight of a sword in her hand, the rush of vitality when it was her against ghastly odds, the ecstasy of triumph. But it had never felt like this.

#LitHodgepodge 7 Ok Pam I'm gonna copy you and post 2 snips 😂 The first is from #GodsOfAtalantis Book 2, close 3rd person/Mireia's POV. Second is Noah's 1st person POV from #Tenement. When I really lock in to Mimi, I feel like I go for a strong flowy rhythm that's a little unpredictable.🧵
She’d never felt so small.
She’d never felt so fragile.
She’d never felt so—desperate.
Kena.
Desperate to reach out and touch a hand in the darkness, and find reassurance that she wasn’t alone here after all. Desperate to feel that something still meant something, that life still had something supporting it. Desperate to do something—to do everything—before she lost her chance and it was all ripped away from her forever.
Kena.
It was all so absurdly fragile—all of it. She saw that now. She’d had a glimpse of it before when her father died, but the truth of it hadn’t really flattened her back then the way it was doing now.
It had all always been fragile. Yet what had she been doing all this time? Playing silly games, procrastinating, telling herself “soon” or “maybe tomorrow.” Letting her fears and foolish pride stop her. Assuring herself that there was no need to act now because it was all inevitable anyway. Debating with herself over pointless philosophical questions about fate and free will when it didn’t really matter, did it? The only thing that mattered was that it was all going to end, one way or another, maybe sooner, maybe later. The only thing that mattered was reaching out into that abyss and finding a hand to grasp so that you knew you weren’t really alone.
Kena.

Voice can be a tricky concept, so I’ll post two snips from different WIPs to hopefully help highlight the differences (and similarities) between the narrative voices in them. This first snip is of the opening lines of my YA fantasy, The Kindler, written in first-person present tense. 🧵
My father’s death changes nothing—this is what I keep telling myself, ever since I got the news last week. You know it’s true when you have to keep repeating it.
I jam the mute button on the remote because the dry droning of the courtroom drama on the TV is setting my teeth on edge. But Eemobu reaches over from his ladder where he’s stocking a high shelf and unmutes it with a grunt. That’s probably the most interaction I’ll have with my uncle today.
I check the clock. 3:55.
Five more minutes, and I’m free. Five more minutes, and I’m done for the summer with this sticky four-aisle corner store where clock hands silent-crawl instead of tick. Five more minutes, and I can start finding answers. Hopefully.
I unglue my thighs from the metal stool to bend down and pull up my backpack. It’s August in North Carolina, and the air is gelatinous. I push aside Brontë, Vonnegut, Whitman, and Woolf to take out my book. The book. The one with nothing on the cover. No title, no author.

I've posted this before, but if we're speaking of 'voice' here we go. When I really get into my bag, I want to whisper directly to your psyche. I'm all about writing real things - things that do happen - and plopping you right in the middle of the experience. Or something haha~ #Lithodgepodge
A jolt, a torrent, a boom, like a storm washed its way through and echoed off the walls of the great mountain. Tokonus’ body trembled at the frequency, breath stolen by the vibration, and sight enraptured by the movement. Unbound, restless, spirited – forms stepped, swayed, swirled kicked, stomped. A glide, a flutter, a float and then a sting; chest thrust out, shaken; arms rise and fall drawing it all down together.

Chirping flutes, thunderous drums, and enchanting dancers – both Umakek and Zhaly
alike – waved like shadows against the sound. Was it the dancer who led the note, or was it the
chanting song that charmed the winding artists? Light, flickering like a flame, came to life within a crystalline structure resting at the epicenter of this great parade of spirits. Their leader, Jniaja, moved with a fluidity that shamed all who followed her rhythm. Shell like charms attached to her dress, cooed and called along with each step she took.

Tokonus sat with eyes fixed on her, unable to look away from the Zepta’s motion. Every tingle, every whimper that surrounded the Zhaly was at her command. As if held fast by Nedren himself, the lord was paralyzed. Jniaja closed her eyes and popped her chest once, caressed her form down to her hips, then again and a third she pumped her breast up. That woman was like a hurricane, and he was swept up in her whirlwind.

HOUND FATALE is out on 11/17! Owen has one chance to expose the richest, most powerful family in Swallowsaw and put an end to their tithing children to the Glade of Wolves, but first he has to win over two of the scariest blond people who have ever lived. link: www.amazon.com/Hound-Fatale...
The official back cover summary of The Dogwood Chronicles: Hound Fatale.

In a fairytale where all the worst villains are human, who’s going to save the Big Bad Wolf?

As a feral child, Owen was chosen as the Donovan family’s tithe to the otherworld—until a fey rescued him, to raise him in the human world.
Twelve years later, the Donovan family’s fortune hinges on the sale of a Stupendous Dogwood, an otherworldly tree with bioluminescent flowers, to be auctioned at the annual Dogwood Gala. The trees are such a closely guarded secret, Kenzie’s parents were killed for researching them, and her sister taken as a ward of the Donovans..
To finish her parents’ research and save her sister, Kenzie steals the key to the mine that holds the secret to the trees’ origins. Her actions reawaken the Hound, the Donovans’ cursed fey servant. Though his original master is dead, the Hound is enslaved to the current heir: Rowan, the disappointing scion of a legacy he cannot begin to understand. But if commanding the Hound to find the key will cement the approval of Rowan’s family, so be it.
Owen’s knowledge of the otherworld proves invaluable to Kenzie’s work, while his sweetness entrances the Hound, delaying his search for the key. As the three conspire behind Rowan’s back to undo a string of Donovan crimes against nature, their discoveries force more of their own secrets into the light, casting shadows of doubt on each other and reality itself, and setting off a chain-reaction of consequences for the people and fey who live there.

October 5th – wall This prison break is going well! #DawnsBlood #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
“Well, as much as I would enjoy that,” the hooded figure replied. “I am afraid we are all out of time for today. I really do need to be going.”
“You aren’t going anywhere, little girl,” he snarled.
“I hate to break this to you, but that really isn’t up to you.” She shrugged. “And don’t call me ‘little girl.’”
As the mage raised his hand to strike, Av’ry suddenly groaned and clutched the sides of his head. Before Mikiva could ask what was wrong, the woman in black waved her hand, throwing the guard into the stone wall like a ragdoll. He slid to the floor, unconscious.
Mikiva’s jaw dropped. “What in the Void just happened?”
“She’s a mage!” Av’ry groaned. “How did I miss that?”
“More importantly, why did she wait so long to use it?”
As Mikiva spoke a loud, screeching wail arose from deep within the fort.
“That’s why,” Av’ry shouted over the deafening roar. “They have a Sensitive here. Any use of foreign magic and he sets off alarms all over the base. Every soldier and mage in the place will be here any moment. We’re screwed.”

“And to make sure that all bring their side to this agreement, Jeffrey will keep a watchful eye on all for this purpose,” Irena says then gestures back towards where the creature is standing on his shelf on the one wall, in plain view of everyone below. He takes the opportunity to stand up on his back legs to grasp at the air excitedly like a raccoon would do. Strange animal.
One of the trio of girls, he sand themed one, raises her hand to draw Irena’s attention before speaking. “Alright, but who’s the blond pillar over there? She wasn’t here last year.” She points a hand at me while she asks this with narrowed eyes.
“Oh, yes, well…” Irena stops for a second as if to think, and then her face lights up as she turns to look me in the eyes. I’m thinking she’s just thought of something, and I’m not sure if I’m going to like it. Irene turns back to address the teenagers. “This, Galilah, is Miss Adams. She is a new addition to the School as I experiment with some new content. She will be you Self Defence teacher for this month!”

Wall | Tok is introduced to Nazhe for the first time. Unfortunately for him, it won't be a one on one meeting. The Septu and his Zepta gathered in one room, and then there's Tok caught without a bottle of wine~ #WIPSnips #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #bvm #bipoc #amwriting #Fantasy #SFF
The chamber that they were forced into was comfortably spaced and could fit many people within. Along the furthest wall were nine thrones, with the largest in the center. Each one was accented with gold and were cushioned with cotton and leather. The largest of the seats had jewels decorating the top. Tokonus could only assume that this would be Nazhe’s seat and the
main individual that he would address.

Jniaja nearly glided across the floor to rest in her seat, one of the two closest to Nazhe. It did not take long for each of the seats to be taken up by Zhaly and the others that Tokonus had observed before. Many of them were women, but one male of each race was present. Last to arrive was Nazhe himself.

The leader of the city's face was cold and sharp. His body was chiseled and his posture was straight. His scales were a smokey brown color, and a furred mane stitched itself from one shoulder down to his breast and then back up to the opposing shoulder. His stride was slow, deliberate, and powerful. Each person bowed their heads as he took the steps to his seat, and
Tokonus did not feel as though he had any other choice but to do the same.

“Mama stone be calling I and I family ‘ere before a stranger. One come wit our broda and wit pain on da lips," Nazhe spoke with a stern tone. “Broda Aesus, come wit it. Speak on the step of it for I.”
