Somewhere in Athens, working on Catodon's redesigned thread view #catodon

An eye-level, close-up photograph shows a laptop computer on a table at an outdoor cafe, with a street scene and people in the background. The laptop displays the new Catodon thread view.

This is Catodon's new look - just merged in develop and deployed on catodon.rocks. A floating navigation bar, less lines, a little more minimalistic (or a little less maximalistic!). Not very dramatic changes, but I feel like I needed something new. It's a UI […] [Original post on catodon.rocks]

After many tedious sessions for updating dependencies etc, now that the stable is out and we can once again play in develop, we are in a super creative mood. Expect to see quite a few changes in catodon.rocks in the next days. This is the best part 😎 #catodon

From Catodon's 26.10.0 "Bongo Cat" release notes: > Catodon began as a fork of Sharkey, which is itself a fork of Misskey, but since the last Sharkey stable we have merged a large number of features from upstream Misskey and brought our dependencies up to the versions current Misskey runs […]

@evan@cosocial.ca I thought you might like to know we added support for the ActivityPub C2S server! Something I've wanted to do in all the projects I was involved in in the past, but they thought Mastodon API support was enough. I believe that supporting the official API is important for […]

Whatever your opinion on LLM-assisted coding is, this is impressive, and in my opinion super useful. Open source replacements for 7 popular Adobe apps, including Photoshop, written in Rust. They expect to have 100% parity in a month. Over the past 20 years, I've been hearing people complain […]

So far, Catodon's thread view has been based on Sharkey's, with elements from Firefish. Soon (not for 26.10.0, which is more or less in feature freeze, but for the next version) I will work on some more touches, partly inspired from Reddit. It's gonna be sweet.

@Die4ever@mastodon.gamedev.place thanks! TBH I want to avoid "join" - it's very common on fedi, there's also "join mastodon" and "join sharkey". But for me, you don't "join" Catodon - you join the Fediverse. We provide software for that, and to build your own fedi community, but we don't see it […]

One new Catodon feature which I find really handy: When you view a remote profile that shows no posts (because nobody on your server follows them), you get a refresh button which fetches their last posts, so you can get an idea of what they're about. This is an attempt to address one of fedi's […]
