Managed to hunt down two photos of the kitbashed model built by Jim Bowers as reference for the original WipEout game, sometime around 1993 or 1994. You can see the logos on it are harvested from other kits- Toyota and Buick logos, USAF roundels, and more that I'm sure someone else could ID

today's hardware designers could never conceive of what Kazuo Kawasaki was doing in 1996
A colorful retro computer setup featuring a purple keyboard, a small teal touchpad, and a teal circular CD-ROM drive with a matching keypad-style controller resting on top. The hardware is arranged against a dark background in a vivid purple-and-turquoise color scheme.

My third novel, HERO COME HOME, officially has a cover! Preorderable from the usual places us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
The cover of my third novel, HERO COME HOME. Four human figures centred, the main image being that of a bearded man looking back over his shoulder (that's Oro, the protagonist), with a circle of symbols behind him. We can see a swan and a key. In the foreground are three people: two women, one with a mysterious marking? scar? who knows!? on her cheek and the other carrying a sword, flanking an older, balding man holding up a pistol. The possibly-scarred woman looks ever so slightly amused, and that is certainly very like her. Everybody else is not happy to be here, or indeed, anywhere

Sol's Atelier 🏖️ Elfie: A Sand Plan 🐘 @solsatelier.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Hello Human resources meme. The top left says "Human made work rules" instead of the original "Know the work rules".

The top frame has Elfie and she says: "Elfie has a limited amount of things she can say, but she thinks that makes it all the more meaningful."
The woman at her desk finds Elfie endearing and says "Awww, you're so sweet."

The bottom frame has the OpenAI Dots genAI companion data security time bomb monstrosities saying: "We are cute and quirky, no? Can we have your data now?"
The woman is grabbing her phone in shock trying to contact human resources.

i've been saying, one path forward for the mid-budget games industry is just... going and making expansions to popular old games. there's a market here. bring back the era of outsourced expansion packs. i'm so serious.

the world itself is /super/ empty and mushashi’s very limited traversal doesn’t help here pockets of fodder enemies are popcorn and it’s not until the lizard dudes or the big 2-handed dudes show up that I have to turn 10% of my brain on

anthony @panecasio.com · 29/09/2026
the combat in onimusha is super satisfying but i still wish it was 50% less filler and boss health + stamina pools were smaller i am confident in my abilities but most boss fights feel like they go on for far too long i like that there’s phases and huge move sets! save something for boss rematch.

The Internet, Social Media and AI are facilitating the churning out of obscene atrocity denial propaganda to deterritorialised global audiences in a way that feels unlike any prior epoch, and I feels like nobody in power is even willing to confront that because they expect to exploit it themselves.

pretty alright! funny in a good way but not really scary. propulsive plotting, great set pieces. fun winks at night of the living dead’s farmhouse, diehard, etc. nice to see the monster designs veer away from RE video games in many instances. i’d easily watch another cregger RE film if he made one

This really puts stuff like publicly funded third spaces in perspective for me. It's so relatively cheap to build out community centers, gyms, makerspaces, studios etc.

when the seniors train the machines that leave no space for juniors in any org, and then the seniors quit / retire / are laid off, then what? this feels like a timed-release poison pill for all experience levels of skilled labour / knowledge workers, in this case, by design.

"There is no joy or sense of accomplishment. No pride in making something clever or quickly, and all progress is associated with the AI and not with you. Everyone hates this. Most of devs my age are planning early retirement and are just waiting to be laid off."
Our dev speed has ~5x almost overnight

Quality has not gone down because we're all experienced devs and we're careful how we use AI and we don't let it make decisions regarding project structure or design patterns. However, I'm seeing less and less glaring mistakes made by the AI.

We're still reviewing generated code but I suspect not for long, the code is better than what most devs I know can write, at 20x the speed. The temptation to just push and move on is huge and irresistible.

There is no joy or sense of accomplishment. No pride in making something clever or quickly, and all progress is associated with the AI and not with you.

The market is dead. Nobody has money to spend. We're still working but leads have dropped off a cliff.

There is no going back. If we stop using AI we'll be out of business in a month.

There is no space for junior devs. I honestly don't know how to incorporate a junior into a team anymore (which is something I used to do for decades). Every time we tried they just become a meat proxy for AI while learning nothing, and getting in the way.

Everything regarding managing a team and a project has changed, and nobody knows how to do it anymore. I lost the ability to correctly estimate work required for a task, for example.

Everyone hates this. Most of devs my age are planning early retirement and are just waiting to be laid off.

People that use AI for coding don't learn anything. To understand code you have to write it, and nobody is writing it. Maybe understanding and reading code will become obsolete soon? I don't know.

Everyone I asked feel they are becoming dumber and losing their focus. I know I am.
