As a youkai, I'm a living reflection of humans.
And then, as a kodama-nezumi, i'm also a mirror for human-like emotion, too.

I've experienced a lot of feelings in my time, but i don't usually like what I see; both in others, and in myself.
It's those ugly things that seep out from the cracks that make me wonder a lot about the lives of us youkai.

So I guess I'm not very fond of humans because i know about the things we've inherited from them."

M: Hmm... a mirror for humans? I wonder if that's an unusual opinion.

M: Well, I guess each god has their own feelings on that, too. She's a big-shot who actually has a shrine, so her answer is probably different.

But to us, a god is a cultivator of wishes.

From a human perspective, it's easy to think that gods have it pretty comfy. But we're always working hard to realize the wishes that those flawed and ridiculous humans trust us with.

And those wishes hold a lot of kindness, too. If you ask me, humans don't want those "ugly things" to seep out any more than you want them to. I think youkai have inherited that desire too, even if they fight a lot.

Sometimes the kind human wish is for the long lives of their children. but sometimes it's just wanting to taste potatoes fresh out of the ground.

Cultivating those simple potato-like wishes with a smile is the round-the-clock job of the resplendent Minoriko Aki!

(and Shizuha too, i guess.)

(Shizuha, offscreen: Eat shit.)

M: I think that for a youkai who works under a god, maybe that's your role, too. Cultivating good, and not just reflecting bad.

So, maybe a human's best wishes can mean more than their worst feelings...?

B: Hmm. I like that perspective, but...
I don't know what wish I've been cultivating by scaring humans off of mountains.
...Actually, isn't that more like the opposite of fulfilling a human's kind wish?

M: Oh. Uh, yeah, I guess that's true...
Darn, I really thought I had something there.

B: Haha, well, right now, anyway, i can't really say you're wrong. Something keeps me coming here to help you fulfill your wish for a great harvest.

M: Something like our wonderful friendship? You can be so sweet, you know!
