Today I, and other UK climate scientists, sent an open letter to the Energy Secretary, Miatta Fahnbulleh, asking her to take serious note of the science when making a decision about the Jackdaw and Rosebank oil fields @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social

Hard to think of a more deeply damaging start to Burnham’s premiership than giving green light to new oil & gas in N. Sea, if true. It won’t lower bills or lead to greater energy security but will drive an even hotter planet. What a terrible signal to give to rest of the world #ClimateVandalism

He wanted universities and departments to research the link between CO₂ and learning outcomes, because if he could connect health, learning, and concentration, it would show that students in poorly ventilated schools are disadvantaged before they even step into an exam hall. 8/

“Another part of the plan would limit benefits to people with UK citizenship, removing it even from those who have been in the country for years or even decades and have indefinite leave to remain” If this is not xenophobia then I don’t know what is. Sickening. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The MILLIONS of people who were denied vaccines are suddenly realising. @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social this was a terrible idea. Not only will the NHS struggle this autumn / winter, but people will suffer and die unnecessarily. It isn't too late for a U-turn!
Community Pharmacy England

Q

Pharmacy teams have reported major issues to us over the last two days related to large numbers of patients booking COVID-19 vaccinations via the National Booking System (NBS) who are not eligible for the vaccine this winter.

We are working with NHS England to try to address this unacceptable situation and to get more NHS communications issued to help people understand whether they are eligible for the vaccine.

In the meantime, we have created three posters that pharmacy teams can use to help explain about vaccine eligibility this winter:

Expect more silence from the Royal Society in the face of their most notorious fellow advocating for the overthrow of the democratically elected government of a country he is neither a citizen nor a resident of (yet he is a fellow of their most prestigious learned society).

So an armed force of unidentified people with a near limitless budget are going to round randomly-selected people up outside of due process, force them into camps, and (potentially) rent out their labour for profit. There are words for this.
