Everything about this city thing smells bad. How did they come to announce it in the international break? So there is no city game for weeks. How was that negotiated? Pep jumped ship a year early, he probably knew. All the obfuscation and deception. They’re the worst. Kick them out.

A very high level half of football. Brighton are fantastic. I honestly don’t think there was much in it, but they pulled out 2 incredible finishes and we didn’t quite find the openings. I think there will be a massive overreaction about how we played due to the scoreline 🤷‍♂️

Weird one, before today Arsenal had allowed six shots that Opta judges as low pressure (i.e. defenders not really closing down) across their first four PL games. They've allowed three just in that first half against Brighton. They've conceded twice.

Keep seeing it said that attendance at the World Cup justifies the extortionate ticket prices, but it doesn't. From my article earlier in the tournament: aworldcuptowin.com/p/the-2026-w...
Unlike at the Club World Cup, there was never going to be any problems selling tickets at the Actual World Cup, but that doesn’t mean the extortionate costs that price out many fans and exploit many who can just about afford it, are warranted.

Excusing the prices by pointing out that most tickets were sold and games were well attended sets a bad precedent for the future of a game that is supposed to be for the many, not the few.

The Killing of a Chinese Bookie is on HBOMax. I bet both Safdie brothers have seen it 50 times. Ben Gazzara is perfect as a flesh peddler & underworld bottom-feeder who thinks he's the only soulful, classy guy in this fallen world. The use of onscreen music as soundtrack is brilliant & haunting.

Bit of a flareup after the match. Jesse Marsch and Qatar coach Julien Lopetegui didn't have a friendly handshake. After Marsch left, argument between the benches ensued. Lot of players and staffers in a bit of a scrum now. Canada still clearly upset about Kone's injury.

Both players kinda got stuck in the pitch, both falling. Horrible for Koné and I really don’t think Modibo meant to do anything like that. Qatar have made worse tackles than that in this game

Oh no. Gruesome injury for Canada's Ismael Kone. Looks like a clear leg break. Players reacting very concerned. Qatari challenge came in late. Richie Laryea was furious when he saw Kone's leg and went after Qatari player. Canadian players very emotional right now on the pitch.

How appropriate for 2025-26 that perhaps the defining game at both ends of the Premier League table is decided by a corner swung into the scrum in the six yards box. West Ham tried the formula Arsenal pioneered. They pushed it too far. It’s a foul and an awful way to decide a game.
