The thing I’ll say about all these AI Fucks: We were never in their lives, we don’t exist to them. Artists might as well be leprechauns to an AI Fuck. They’ve never been aware of art as a thing that happens in a human mind. Any artist they’ve ever met they never recognized as being an artist.

I just like the idea of Dracula having opinions about Pompeii, I don’t know

Honestly, this is what I am Here For on Bluesky: Getting a response about Pompeii from someone named Big Dracula Energy. Completely complimentary, 10/10 Here For This

(partially having recovered from today’s ugliness) I’m kind of disappointed no one’s made a synthwave album called Dance Night at the Terror Dome. Why aren’t there three of these by now?

All the horrible things in my brain eating at my sense of self and then I hold the kitten and my partner smiles at me and like maybe I don’t need my brain, what’s it actually done for me lately?

1) Get talked into letting myself take the night off, go to the local makerspace for the first time, forget about the world 2) At the makerspace, suddenly deal with two incredibly emotionally heavy phone calls regarding extended family stuff 3) Disassociate in the makerspace, defeated

It turns out I’ve been starving myself. I thought I was fine but staying in a prolonged calorie deficit is actually Not Great for mental health and stress management. To borrow a D&D example, it’s like every encounter you always fail initiative, every single time.

I realized this morning that I was always kind of creeped out by Beavis and Butt-Head, because as far as I know the show never, ever shared who their parents were or what they were up to, so the two guys kind of occupy a similar place in my head as the Lodge Spirits from Twin Peaks

Incredible stuff here. Ambient collages of field recordings and alternating, inventive uses of static and distorted audio to make something truly texturally unique with beautiful calm.

I’m continuing to pick away at learning to color

It’s important to acknowledge that in a world that overwhelmingly feels like it’s always falling apart, that feeling can transfer to our personal sense of coherency. So if you begin to feel that way, just know it’s not really you, it’s because you actually care about things that matter.

Basically my entire Sunday has been a valiant battle against an incredibly powerful urge to sleep for like 36 hours

Still bummed about my coloring attempts. Trying to think my way through it, an actually difficult challenge is, in fact, the true goal of any artist, I think. Doing a thing that is hard because it is worth the effort to do it, regardless of outcome.

I’m bummed. I tried to color some of my pages. I really thought I had it sorted out but it’s not coming together like I hoped. I’m doing what I can to let it sit and think on it, and figure out something else to try, but it’s looking like coloring might be the biggest challenge for me

One of those odd little nights again. The day was unfun, uncomfortable, and unsuccessful, and I barely got anything done. The night, however, is becoming a highlight of the week.

Okay it says 6 by 6 by 6 inches so I guess it’s probably an actual cube but I distrust there being no additional pictures from any other angle. Maybe it’s like an accordion so it flattens nicely?

Great News. I think I have mostly completed the shading passes on all the pages of the next section of my comic. I think. This should mean I can see if this all pays off into an effective coloring strategy, which is something I’ve wanted for a very long time.
