non-jokey answer though is to display your stuff in a flex-box with the width being as wide as you want your 'middle' to exist in (usually the width of the page) and then include `align-items: center` in the styling rules

It varies by artist but I have this a lot too. I think artists like Toriyama (Dragon Ball) or Kei Urana (Gachiakuta) do an excellent job at composing pages in a way that help me flow through the action pretty easily but there are many battle shounen that make my squint a bit to process everything

I'm wishy-washy on it too maybe cuz I like a lot of rhythm, puzzle, and arcadey games that kinda boil down to repetitive highscore chasing at the end of the day, but I at least leave menu of those feeling inspired in a design sense and those don't feel as intentionally habit forming usually

I feel it's a disconnect between what I value from games and how they're seen as a medium by most, but I just feel so bad when I get the impression that a game aims to fill time and not much more. It's always weird to me to see a game being called "addicting" as a point of praise

I think there's still value there if the stuff those loops prop up is novel, but I think many games (of the roguelike genre especially) kinda just have those engagement loops and a checklist to fill out and that's enough for most people but always makes me feel slimy and sad
